India’s Dharun Ayyasamy is all set to get his campaign at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
Dharun, who will participate in the 400m hurdles event, has had a memorable start to the year, as he beat the national record, to book his spot in Gold Coast.
Amazingly, just a few weeks ahead of his qualification event (Run Adam Fed Cup), Dharun was completely bedridden due to Typhoid.
However, he overcame his physical difficulties, to get back to the track, qualify for the Commonwealth Games, and even break a national record, while he was at it.
India have already had a successful run at the Games, having won 10 golds, 4 silvers, and 5 bronze medals, to take their total tally to 19.
However, the Indians, who have one of the biggest contingents at the Commonwealth Games, are still far behind Australia (39 gold) and England (22 gold).
