Although India's hopes were pinned on Manish Rawat, who eventually finished sixth, it was a great effort by the athlete, who was inthe top three spots at one point in the race.

Meanwhile, India's Manish Rawan came in at the 6th position with a timing of 1:22:22 and Irfan Thodi came in 13th, clocking 1:27:34.

India's Manish Rawat  has  climbed up one spot to #6 again, as he pushes for a strong finish. Meanwhile, Irfan has still held his 13th position, being already 6.06 seconds behind the race leader.

It's getting intense at the top of the pack, right now. There's absolutely no difference between the timings of the top 3, heading into the last 2 kms of the race.

There's literally nothing separating the top three right now. All the three racers -- Bird Smith, Gathimba and Bosworth are all on 55.48 seconds, as the race nears a photo-finish!

Samuel Ireri Gathimba of Kenya had been lurking around the top 5 spots, but has now picked up the pace, to put himself straight into the #2 spot, behind Bird Smith.

Manish has used the Englishman's momentum well to soar one place up the field to #6.

At the top of the charts, Bosworth has now slipped from #2 to #6, while Canada's Benjamin Thorne has made steady progress to take the #2 spot. Bird-Smith still leads the race!

Meanwhile, Irfan, who started the first stretch at #9, fell back to #11 by the 4km mark.

Its been a bit of a slow start for the Indians, both of whom started from the 9th and the 11 positions, respectively. However, Manish Rawat ahs picked up the pace after the first 2km mark. 

While he started the first stretch at #11, Manish has now surged up the #2, behind Australia's Dane Bird-Smith and England's Tom Bosworth, both of whom have maintained their #1 and #2 spots respectively, so far.

Hello, and welcome to our coverage of the first athletics event from the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia! I a bright morning in Gold Coast, as we get athletics underway with the Men's 20km Racewalk Final up first.

Day 4 of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games continue as Athletics are added to the daily roster. 

So far in the competition, India has done well. Although all of India's medals have been due to weightlifting so far, other sports have made leaps too. India's Table Tennis Men's and Women's team are in the Semi-finals, one victory away from a medal. Indian Boxers have done well so far as well, with many of the boxers progressing forward in their respective weight categories. 

Athletics will be added to the list in which there is Indian participation on Day 4. There are four events of track and field on the fourth day at Gold Coast. 

One of those events 20 Km Racewalk. Racewalk is a type of race in which athletes have to manoeuvre themselves towards the finish line in a very specific stride. In the Men's walk, India is represented by  Manish Singh Rawat and Irfan Thodi.
