Hello and Welcome to the live coverage from Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 as the Women's 4000m Team Pursuit event takes place at the Anna Meares Velodrome.
Day 1 at Gold Coast continues with another cycling event coming up. This time nations will go up against each other in Team Pursuit. Team pursuit is a type of cycling event in which teams of four compete with each other over a distance of 4000m or 4km.
Women's Team pursuit qualifying will take place today at the Anna Mears Velodrome, followed by Bronze and Gold medal matches. Great Britain currently holds the world record in this event, finishing in 4:10.236 in Rio two years earlier.
India's team for 4000m pursuit includes Deborah Herold, Amritha Reghunath, Sonali Mayanglambam, and Monorama Tongbram. All four women are representing India in multiple cycling events at Gold Coast 2018. Deborah who hails from Andaman & Nicobar islands is India's strongest contender for a medal in track cycling. Manipur has two representatives within the team- Mayanglambam, and Tongbram. Reghunath who hails from Kerala will complete the team.
