The cycling events at Gold Coast Commonwealth Games get underway today, 5th April, as multiple contests will take place over the day.

Coming up first is the Women's B&VI sprint in which India has two entries- Deborah Herold and Aleena Reji. Deborah Herold is a medal contender in this sport for the country. Deborah who will represent India in 5 events Sprint, Kerin, Individual Time Trials, and Team Pursuit. The cyclist from Andaman & Nicobar Islands will be making her CWG debut. Herold has previously won gold at the Asian Cup in 2014. Herold is also the first Indian cyclist to hold a rank in the Union Cycliste Internationale rankings.

India also has representation in the form of Aleena Reji, who won a bronze medal in Asian Cycling Track Championships in national record time. Reji, who hails from Kerala will be looking to bag a medal in the same event.

Both the qualifier and the finals for this event will take place today itself.
