Lakshya Sen, Aakarshi Kashyap and the men's doubles duo of Satwicksiaraj Rankireddy have all won their pre-quarterfinal matches with ease and are now a step closer to the podium. The women's doubles duo of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly also made it to the last-eight earlier in the day.

That was pretty easy for PV Sindhu! The gulf in the level of experience between the two was clearly visible from the start.

In the quarterfinals, Sindhu will face Malaysia's Jin Wei Goh, whom she easily beat in the Mixed Team final a few days ago.

The competition will get tougher as we move into the business end of the competition, and the Indian can expect some resistance in next match against the 6th seed and home hope Toby Penty — who beat Scotland's Callum Smith in his round-of-16 match.
