Thank you for joining us this morning! It was one hell of a fight and McGregor, despite it being his debut, produced some fine moments. However, in the end, the experience and class of Mayweather showed as he absorbed the early punches, waited for the Irishman to tire and finished the job in Round 9 and 10!
But it's a great show by the Notorious as he displayed great heart to last the ten rounds. Nobody gave him a chance at the start and he gave Mayweather a tough time in the early rounds.
Some devastating right hooks had the Irishman running for cover and on the ropes. The referee had to intervene and stop the fight. McGregor had not thrown a punch for almost a minute and was in serious trouble.
But in the last minute of the round, McGregor did get some punches in as well and this has been a close round. Good comeback by the Notorious towards the end.
McGregor has started off brilliantly as we end Round 3. He is certainly holding is own. He's got some jabs in but has been reprimanded by the referee a lot too.
The fight promises to be one for the ages, given the stature of the two fighters on display and along with that, the economic side of it. Both fighters, win or lose, will go home with their bank accounts bulgier and that too by mammoth sums.
The figures are huge and the combined revenue from the pay-per-view and ticket sales is estimated to be nearly $450 million. Out of this figure, it's $400 million consisting of PPV sales, while the remaining $50 million is with regards to on-ground ticket sales at the T-Mobile Arena. However, it could be even much more than this figure if the PPV sales are more than the estimated numbers.
The total pool will be divided among the two fighters and the ratio is confidential. However, estimates suggest that it will be around 75-25 in Mayweather's favour, which would mean that McGregor would earn an estimated $120 million, while Mayweather will pocket around $350-360 million.
Both fighters are expected to earn further sums from sponsorships. The figure for the Irishman will be around $5 million, while for Mayweather it is likely to be four times more at $25 million.
THE BIGGEST BOXING MATCH IN HUMAN HISTORY IS FINALLY HERE!
Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's live blog for the fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, which will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, USA. It will be a 12-round bout and a one-off match between two behemoths in the world of combat sports.
McGregor is the biggest name in the world of mixed martial arts and has shown his abilities in the famed pentagon of the Ultimate Fighting Championships. However, this will be the first time that the 'Notorious' will compete in a boxing match, having never competing in the ring before in his career. Videos of the Irishman training have been doing rounds over the last few months and it remains to be seen how he will perform at the biggest stage.
His opponent, Floyd 'Money' Mayweather is one of the greatest boxers to have ever stepped into the ring. He has unblemished 49-0 professional record and will be eyeing McGregor as his 50th scalp. He is widely considered as the favourite to take the win but an upset is hard to rule out, given McGregor's tenacity and age not being on the American's side.
