Chasing a target of 348, the BP XI batsmen were never in the chase as they lost the wicket of Rahul Tripathi early. Shreevats Goswami and Mayank Agarwal tried to revive the innings with a 79-run partnership for the second wicket before the wickets started falling at regular intervals. From 89/1 in 18 overs, BP XI collapsed to 154/8 in 34 overs.

Akshay Karnewar and Kushang Patel just delayed the inevitable and reduced the deficit by scoring some quick runs towards the end. The duo put on 66 runs for the ninth wicket before Karnewar was dismissed for 40 off 28 balls with two fours and four sixes. Kushang remained unbeaten on 40 off 28 balls with five fours and a six.

Goswami was the top scorer for BP XI with 43 followed by Agarwal's 42. Ashton Agar was the pick of the Aussie bowlers as he ended with figures of 4/44 in his 8.2 overs. Kane Rihardson ended up with two wickets while Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa, Nathan Coulter-Nile and James Faulkner settled for one apiece.
