Former umpire Lou Rowan passes away

Former Australian umpire Lou Rowan has passed away at the age of 91. Rowan came in the spotlight during the Ashes series of 1971, when he warned Englishman John Snow for intimidatory bowling to Australia's Terry Jenner.

He was Australia's oldest umpire and was also a drug squad detective in Queensland, when not officiating on a cricket field.

Rowan officiated in 25 Tests and will be remembered for standing in Australia's 1st ever One-Day International in 1971 against England.

India U-19 side beat England to take 2-1 lead in 5 match ODI series

The Indian U-19 side defeated England in the 2nd match of the 5 match ODI series held at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai earlier today. Opener Shubhman Gill was the star for the Men in Blue as he smashed his way to a magnificent knock of 138 of 157 deliveries with 17 fours and 2 sixes to his name. He put one a vital partnership of 115 runs with middle order batsman Harvik Desai which helped India chase down the target of 216 set by the Englishmen.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Chahar and Anukul Roy proved to be too good for the opposition batsmen as they picked up wickets at regular intervals to ensure England were reduced to 215 in their 50 overs. Delray Rawlins was the pick of the English batsmen once again as he scored a sublime knock of 96 in 106 balls.

Rahul Dravid's boys will take on England in the 4th ODI in Mumbai on February 6th.
