Dean Jones feels that Glen Maxwell needs a mentor

The extravagant Australian batsman Glen Maxwell had come under a lot of criticism from coach Darren Lehmann and captain Steve Smith for making disrespectful comments against Victoria captain Matthew Wade.

Recently, former Australian batsman Dean Jones came ahead and said that Maxwell needs a mentor in order to improve his batting and in order to make better decisions about what he says.

"I think he really needs a mentor," Jones said while launching Dean Jones' Cricket Tips at the MCG. "I don't want my sportsmen to come out of cookie moulds. I want them to have a personality and be able to say what they want, but I don't think that was the right forum for him to do it.

"He's got enough charisma in the way he plays. At the top of his game, he's in our team, first pick, and I think he's going to India."But the fact remains that I think he needs a mentor, whether that be Chris Rogers, or Michael Hussey or Mark Taylor or someone like that, who he could speak to and vent. I often did with Stacky or my dad, get it off your chest and then say 'okay, this is what we need to do," said Jones.

Mohammad Asif makes a claim about the current crop of Pakistani bowlers

Pakistan pacer Mohammad Asif feels that the current Pakistan pace attack is nothing special and even termed them as "average." Asif, who recently made a comeback to the sport following a 5-year ban had a lot to say about the fast bowlers.

"We talk about talent...but this is all the talent that we have. I don't think there is anything special about our pacers. It is an average sort of attack," Asif told the Dawn. "To develop something special, you must work hard. And of course some have abilities which are God-gifted. I've played a full season now but I didn't see anything special, be it Rahat [Ali] or Imran Khan or Sohail Khan, " said Asif
