Mohammad Yousuf wants coach Mickey Arthur to be sacked after India loss
Former Pakistan batsman, Mohammad Yousuf, has slammed Pakistan’s coach Mickey Arthur for the 124-run loss to India in the Champions Trophy opener for Pakistan. The 42-year-old believes that Arthur has not been able to instigate a positive response from the players.
Junaid Khan, after his strong-worded statements on Virat Kohli, couldn't even find place in Pakistan’s 12-man squad that was chosen for the India game. Arthur and captain Sarfraz Ahmed attested to the same in their pre-conference before the India clash.
Yousuf, while criticizing Arthur’s tactics, declared that the bowling combination for the game was not right. Furthermore, he also sad that believing Khan and Hasan Ali’s bowling styles to be the same is foolish since once is a right-handed bowler and another is a left-armer.
He also said that the reason for slipping down to No. 8 in the ICC World Rankings needs to be curated and that it’s time for the board to make strong changes to rectify that very situation.
The Pakistan team attracted criticism from all quarters after failing to curtail India’s incessant run scoring in the first innings, and after failing to reach even within the touching distance of India’s massive total.
Their next match is against South Africa, which is a must-win for semi-final qualification.
