El Clasico: Barcelona vs Real Madrid Live Score and Commentary, La Liga 2021-22

Barcelona have much to rectify in their squad at the moment, and will need to emerge from their mid-table slumber sooner rather than later. Real Madrid, on the other hand, are up there with the leading pack and will look to mount another title challenge.

Barcelona may have dominated the ball for long periods, but Real Madrid take the honours at Camp Nou tonight. In front of a packed home crowd, Barcelona were decidedly toothless in the first half and were only marginally better in the second.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, made the most of their counter-attacks and have come away with a deserved victory. Sergio Aguero will not be happy with the result tonight, but he will certainly cherish his first goal for the Catalan giants as he knocked in a late consolation.

It's only a consolation for Barcelona and there's no celebration for Sergio Aguero, but he's opened his account with the Catalans! Sergino Dest gets the better of Mendy and puts in a low cross, Aguero nonchalantly flicks the ball into the back of the net to pull one back!

56' Coutinho and Gavi link up brilliantly with the latter through on the right flank, but his volleyed cross finds no takers in the penalty area.

55' Real Madrid mount another counter but Benzema is sent wide by Vazquez. Ferland Mendy decides to try his luck with a shot, but it's straight at Ter Stegen.

53' Free-kick for Barcelona, as Gavi clashes with Ferland Mendy. The Catalans want a yellow card, but the referee gets things back underway.

49' Fati with an opportunity! Alba gets his cross in but the Barcelona youngster shoots straight at Courtois! Two opportunities in two minutes - much better from the Catalans!

Real Madrid, on the other hand, will be happy with their lead and will look for another opportunity to trouble Barcelona on the counter. The game is poised on a knife-edge at the moment, and we'll be back in a few minutes with the second half.

The Catalans have been far too predictable with their plans so far, and Real Madrid have had all the time in the world to organise their defensive lines. Barcelona need a spark of inspiration. Or a stroke of luck. Preferably both.

Real Madrid could have Royston Drenthe leading their attack on the wing and he would be having a field day. Every single Real Madrid attack is coming down Barcelona's right side. If Dest scores that chance before the 1-0, this game might be different but underwhelming from them.

Barcelona created only two chances in the first half, with the first falling to Sergino Dest, who sent his effort flying into the stands from a mere six yards. The second chance was less clear-cut, with Ansu Fati getting a shot in at the stroke of half-time.

Real Madrid go into half-time the happier side, with a crucial 1-0 lead at half-time. Los Blancos had a clear plan against Barcelona's high press and it paid dividends after the half-hour mark. Ancelotti's men rolled back the years with a trademark counter-attack, and David Alaba found acres of space to send his finish flying past Ter Stegen to secure the lead.

44' ANSU FATI! Finally finds the ball in the area and pulls the trigger, but Militao puts his body in the line to block his shot. Much better from Barcelona.

42' It's Real Madrid's turn to pile the pressure on now, with Vinicius bearing down on Mingueza in his own half. Real Madrid seem much more effective with their play at the moment.

41' Some more intricate play from Barcelona, but Lucas Vazquez is on hand to block Alba's cross. The Catalans sustain the pressure after the corner, but Courtois eventually collects the loose ball.

38' Real Madrid storm forward on another counter, and Benzema looks for Kroos at the far post. The German pulls out the volley, but Jordi Alba is in the way. Pique clears his lines from the subsequent corner.
