Lewis Hamilton wins Russian Grand Prix

Kimi Raikkonen is awarded a 30 second penalty for causing the shunt with Valtteri Bottas. He's demoted down the order to P8, giving Mercedes the constructors' championship for the second year in a row.

Hamilton wins, Vettel in second, and a Force India on the podium with Sergio Perez in P3!

Oh no! Perez of Force India looked set for a podium but he's been caught by Kimi Raikkonen and Valtteri Bottas who shunt! He's in P3 again. Lewis Hamilton WINS!

Carlos Sainz is out as is Daniel Ricciardo, now. That's the end of the race for one Red Bull and one Toro Rosso.

Perez is 'starting to struggle with his front tyres' say Williams, so he's gaining on the driver attempting to get a podium.

Bottas has caught Daniel Ricciardo and he's now hunting for a podium place by chasing down Sergio Perez of Force India! Not a big gap - 2.197 seconds, so Bottas could easily get onto the podium.

Raikkonen is gaining on Valtteri Bottas and looking to take P5. He tries to get on the inside of Valtteri Bottas but is unable to gain on him.

Podium's still possible, Kimi, say Ferrari engineers. He's behind teammate Sebastian Vettel who is in P2.

Lewis is long gone with a 6 second gap ahead of second place Valtteri Bottas.

20th lap: Battle for the final point slots is the most competitive right now given Lewis is far ahead and the Ferraris are in the middle far from anyone else.

Vettel overtakes Raikkonen on the inside. He's now up to 3rd.

The drivers are doing all they can to keep their tyres warm in this cold Sochi afternoon.

And it looks like it'll stay for a while given the extent of the SAFER mess that Romain Grosjean caused.

Toro Rosso racer Carlos Sainz Jr cleared to participate in Russian Grand Prix

It's mostly sunny at Sochi with only a smattering of clouds. Rain is not expected, so drivers should not have the problems they suffered in FP1, which was under a mix of wet and dry conditions.

After spending the night in hospital, he was cleared by the doctors there. After FIA doctors gave their approval, Toro Rosso have today cleared the driver to race.

Carlos Sainz Jr of Toro Rosso had a big crash that saw Free Practice 3 quickly called off. Extricated from the barriers, the driver was conscious and immediately placed under medical care.
