FIBA World Cup 2019: Philippines vs Italy

It was a tremendous shooting night for the Italians who would be looking to seal a berth for the next round now when they face Angola two days from now. Philippines though, have their task cut out as they take on Serbia next in their quest to remain alive in the competition after a dreadful start.

Italy run down the clock and that's it. Italy wins the game 108-62!

Della Valle misses a floater as Dalistan gets the defensive board. He passes to Perez who goes all the way and finishes with a layup.

Philippines turn the ball again after Blatche misses his handles. Bolick fouls Della Valle on the following possession. He makes both free throws.

Tessitori draws a foul from Fajardo. He makes one of his two attempts.

Gilas Pilipinas respond strongly by scoring two back to back treys through Perez and Blatche.

Filloy strikes right back with a trey after receiving a pass from Della Valle.

Fajardo scores a layup of his own on the other end.

Filloy drives quickly to the rim after another Philippines miss and scores a contested layup.

Paul Biligha now scores for Italy as the Europeans breach the 100-point mark.

Ravena misses a layup. Italy move quickly on the fastbreak with Tessitori trying to finish quickly. He fails to do the same but grabs another offensive board and finishes with a hook shot.

Ariel Filloy isolates his and scores an 18-footer for Italy.

Tessitori gets hold of another offensive board and tries to lay it in but his shot is blocked out of bounds by Fajardo.

Della Valle gets fouled from behind by Pogoy. Philippines are in the penalty again so Della Valle goes to the charity stripe. He makes both free throws.

Ravena drains a trey following a good screen by Blatche. This was Philippines' first 3-pointer of the night!

Poor interior defense by Blatche as Brooks finds Tessitori inside the paint who flushes it home for the Italians.

Blatche commits his 8th turnover as he is called for an offensive foul in the paint.

Gentile draws a foul again and this time is able to make one free throw of the two.

Pilipinas commit another turnover!

Gentile draws a foul from Rosario and gets to the charity stripe. He misses both free throws though.

Tessitori misses his shot but grabs the offensive board and finishes close to rim to rack up 2 second-chance points.

Perez finds Roger Pogoy who finishes with a sublime teardrop.

Brooks misses a 3-pointer from the right wing and the Philippines players attack on the fastbreak.

At the end of the 3rd quarter, Italy lead the Philippines 83-39.

With the clock winding down, Tessitori just pulls up from mid-range and luckily it connects.

Della Valle turns the ball over with a bad pass, and Team Pilipinas get the ball into Fajardo's hands who is fouled again. Fajardo once again can only manage to get one free throw to fall.

Fajardo draws another foul from Tessitori. Italy are in the penalty so the former goes to the charity stripe. Once again, he scores only one free throw.

Fajardo gets into the paint and gets fouled in the act of shooting. He only goes 1 of 2.

CJ Perez gets a defensive rebound, runs straight forward, is able to dribble past the Italy defenders and finishes brilliantly with a soft layup.

Fajardo gets his shot blocked by Brooks as Vitali finds Della Valle who rains it from downtown for Italy.

Vitali and Brooks connect for an easy pick and roll finish with the latter managing to finish despite getting fouled. He makes the free throw to go.

Bolick with a nice driving finish now for the Philippines.

Philippines miss again as Italy attack on the fastbreak. A communication breakdown sees Gallinari find Brooks who flushes it home.

Italy counter through Vitali who gets an easy driving layup to fall.

Bolick gets to the paint is fouled while attempting to make a bucket to fall. He makes both the free throws.

Gallinari gets rid of his marker Norwood with a pump fake and drives to the layup. He is fouled there by Blatche in the act of shooting. He makes both his attempts from the charity stripe. Italy are leading by 40 points now!

A bit of ball movement sees Blatche wide open on the right corner. He pulls up for a trey and misses. Philippines are yet to make a 3-pointer in the game!

Blatche turns the ball yet again as the Italians score another easy layup.

Blatche finds Aguilar on the fastbreak and he finishes with ease.

Pilipinas are defending zonally now and it seems to be working as Biligha misses another shot.

Bolick is consistently getting some penetration. He gets the offensive board an a miss by Ravena and tries to bank it in but is fouled. He makes both the resulting free throws.

Ravena gets a bucket to go but it's not counted as he is called for an offensive foul. Ravena complains to the ref and his slapped with a technical foul. Belinelli makes the resultant free throw.

Robert Bolick's layup is blocked by Biligha and Datome drains it from downtown in transition.

Blatche works Biligha in the low post. He scores a fadeaway jumper with the shot clock winding down.
