The conference is over in Bogota as the major decisions have been announced. Poland has won the rights to host the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2019 as the Indian bid was not accepted and the final decision was made by the FIFA Council.

The FIFA Council reviewed the bids of India and the only other contestant Poland during its meeting in the Colombian capital and came to the conclusion that Poland will be the ideal host for the 22nd edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The FIFA Council has decided to award the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup hosting rights to Poland.

The press is asking Mr Infantino a variety of questions about the VAR system and the issues about its implementation in big tournaments like the World Cup. The President has cited the different tournaments that the technology has been used in and the stats on it.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has just announced to the press that Poland will host the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2019 and Peru will host the next FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2019.

FIFA has announced a landmark decision to use Video Assist Referee (VAR) at the 2018 FIFA World Cup to be held this year in Russia.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino is speaking to the press ahead of the official operations of the conference.

Currently, India and Poland are the two frontrunners to host 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup. Also on FIFA’s agenda in the conference are the plans for the 2026 World Cup.

After hosting the FIFA U17 World Cup last year, India may be all set to host yet another major FIFA tournament – the U20 World Cup in 2019.

FIFA is set to hold a conference in Bogota, Colombia in the wee hours of Saturday morning (IST). In the conference, the world’s apex football governing body is set to decide which country will host the mega event in 2019.

Currently, India and Poland are the two frontrunners to host 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup. Also on FIFA’s agenda in the conference are the plans for the 2026 World Cup.

Incidentally, although India is one of the two frontrunners to land the U20 World Cup, rumours have been doing the rounds that India may not land the tournament.

The main reason for that is that FIFA wants to hold the tournament in June, when the temperatures are sky-high, making it difficult for the players.
