...
Full Time! With that, we come to the end of the semifinal, as Argentina make it to the final with a 1-0 victory over India. Captain Manpreet Singh looks absolutely gutted, as he sits on the turf, looking on in disbelief. India have fought well in this match, but one goal was all it took to make the difference for Argentina, in the end. India, on the other hand, have the chance to fight for the bronze medal, on Sunday.
...

...
46 - The fourth quarter starts in a similar manner, as Argentina keep possession of the ball, while the Indians chase shadows in the rain.
...
End of Q3! With that, we come to the end of the third quarter. India have sorely struggled here, and it looks difficult for them to make a headway into the Argentine defence. This makes for an exciting final quarter.
...
45 - India get a long corner, and Lalit crashes it into goal. However, his shot was from outside the circle, and it does not stand.
...
43 - India are struggling to make headway in these wet conditions. Neither are they being able to play their swift game, nor are they being able to play the aerial balls properly.

...
Half Time! With that, we come to the end of the first half, as Argentina go into the break with a 1-0 lead. They have dominated the proceedings, hogging possession of the ball, while India have tried to play on the counter. However, India's swift counter-attacks seem to have been foiled by different puddles in the middle of the pitch, which have slowed the pace of their passes down, and have allowed Argentina to get back on the ball.

...

...
21 - Manpreet lunges forward and puts in a tackle, that looked clean on the first go. However, the Umpire awards a free hit to Argentina, and gives Manpreet a yellow card. India are down to 10 men for the next 10 minutes.

...
17 - PC for Argentina! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! Peillat puts Argentina in the lead! He opened up his shoulders, and calmly slotted the ball into the top corner of the goal.
...
17 - PC for Argentina! But India review the decision, looking for dangerous play by Argentina. Lakra had stuck his stick out in front of Pereira, and its a touch and go affair. The decision is eventually not overturned, but India keep their review, as there was no clear-cut evidence.
...
16 - And we're off in Q2, as the ball squirms out of Varun's reach, the wet surface, and rolls out of play.
...
End of Q1! Its been a slow start to the semifinal here. The pitch has been rather heavy due to the rain, and both the sides have failed to play their natural game here. Let's see what Q2 has in store for us.
...
15 - Akashdeep seems to have been caught on the face with a stick, as he goes down. However, it was not intentional, and play continues after a short delay.
...
14 - The passes are being consistent as long as they are passing it around in defence, but with puddles all over the pitch, India are finding it difficult to go forward.
...
10 - Chinglensana passes to Sunil on the right. Sunil crashes in a cross. Its a bouncing ball, but the Argentine defence clears calmly.
...
9 - Apologies for the delay. We've been facing some technical difficulties, here. The rain seems to be really affecting play here, as both the sides play frequently lifted balls, to avoid the wet turf.  This has take a lot of intensity out of the game.

...
1 - India immediately look to get into the attack, but the Argentina defence seem to have it under control.

The Indian men's hockey team takes on reigning Olympic champions Argentina in what promises to be a real thriller in the semifinals of the FIH Hockey World League Final 2017. After a winless run in the group stages, the Indian side dug deep and recorded an absorbing victory over Pool A toppers Belgium on Wednesday and as a result, set up the semis match up with the Argentinians.

The two teams had met at last year's Rio Olympics as well, with the India team recording a narrow 2-1 win. Sjoerd Marijne's side will be looking for the same result at the Kalinga Stadium in Odisha as well, as they look to seal their berth in the finals.

India drew their opening match of the tournament against the mighty Australians but in the next two games, they were put to the sword by England, who won 3-2 with a goal in the dying minutes, and Germany, who recorded a comfortable 2-0 win. However, the Indian side picked itself up in the kncockout game against Belgium, which they won in a nerve-wracking shootout that went to sudden death.
