Hello, and welcome to the Bronze Medal Match of the FIH Hockey World League, between India and Germany. The national anthems are over, and we are ready to go...
The Indian men's hockey team will look to repeat their feat from two years ago as they take on Germany in the bronze-medal playoff at the Hockey World League Final 2017. The Men in Blue faced off against the Germans in the group stage as well, where they suffered a 2-0 loss.
It has been a see-saw of a campaign for the Indians so far, who have played five but won just one game. Their opening game saw them play out a thrilling 1-1 draw against the mighty Aussies but in their next matches, they slumped to defeats against England and Germany.
However, in the quarterfinal, they raised their game in fine fashion and put Olympic silver medalists Belgium to the sword in an exciting battle, which saw the Indians take the win in a penalty shootout.
In their semifinal clash, they were then up against the Olympic champions Argentina in a match that was played in extremely difficult conditions, with many parts of the pitch waterlogged. The Indians gave it their all but it was not enough as the Argentine side recorded a narrow 1-0 win.
India will be up against the Germans once again, to determine which sides will finish third and fourth. The match starts at 5.15 PM IST! Stay tuned to this space for the latest updates from the game.
