With that, we come to the end of our coverage for tonight's match. But do stay tuned to Sportskeeda for more updates from around the world of sports. Ciao!
...
Full Time! What a frantic end to the match that turned out to be. While none of that would have affected the result, it was a rather exciting finish for the fans. With this result, Germany secure their top spot in Pool B, while India finish bottom with just one point. However, the position does not matter as such, as all the teams make it to the quarterfinals anyway. As things stand, India are set to face Belgium in the last eight.
...
59 - PC for India! Last chance to score. 6 seconds left! And the hooter goes off just as Rupinder was about to flick it.
...
59 - With 6 seconds left on the clock, India make a review, and get a PC!
...
59 - Rupinder lines it up, but it is blocked. Akashdeep is there at the far post but fails to capitalise.
...
59 - PC for India! Harmanpreet lines it up but it seems to have caught a German foot, and India get a PC. But Germany have reviewed the call, and replays show that it came off a stick. ITs a long corner for India.
...
59 - Harmanpreet passes to Sunil, who is brought down outside the area, and India get a PC!
...
58 - Germany are using all their experience, as they have slowed the game down. They are holding the ball up-field. When under too much pressure, they are playing it back to their defenders, and are keeping India off the ball.
...
57 - Sunil breaks through the middle and plays it in to Harmanpreet, but once again, the pass is a bit too far.
...
55 - Fuchs enters the circle again, and pulls the trigger this time, but Suraj pushes it away, as the ball was travelling at speed towards his face.
...
52 - Fuch soars into the box from the left flank, and crosses it in. However, the cross is just out of the reach of an outstretched Furk.
...
50 - Manpreet averts a dangerous attack by Germany, and plays along aerial ball to Mandeep, upfield, but the German defenders are alert to the danger, and cut out the pass.
...
49 - Furk is looking lively down the left flank, as he twists and turns his way around the Indian defenders. Germany have gotten the momentum back in Q4
...
46 - India get the proceedings underway, but Ruhr breaks away down the left flank, and makes his way towards the goal. However, India keeper Suraj comes off his line and makes a good save to keep India in the game.
...
End of Q3! And with that, we come to the end of Q3. This has been a better quarter for India, but the Germans have come closer to goal this time around as well. India have shown some intent, but have not been able to create any clear-cut chances.
...
44 - India are probing away at the German area, but the visitors are on their A-game. They only get a long corner.
...
41 - Germany have turned things around in the last few minutes, as they look to keep possession.
...
39 - Sunil makes some space on the right flank, plays it to Sumit, who fizzes in a cross, but it is harmless, and goes out of play even before reaching the near post.
...
37 - PC for India! Manpreet pumps it in, and there's some confusion between Rupinder and Chinglensana, and the chance is fluffed.
...
36 - PC for Germany! Furk pumps it in, Haner lines up the shot, as it hits the post, bounced three times on the line and comes out. Furk was there at the far post, but he could not react to it quickly enough.
...
35 - India are playing it around the back, but are not being able to make any progress from their own half. The Germans are closing down well.
...
33 - The proceedings have been a bit slower in the second half, but crucially the momentum seems to have swung,as India hogg possession, while Germany play on the counter.
...
32 - India have come out with great intent in the second half, as they use swift movements, to stretch the German defence. However, they seem to be rushing things a bit too much, and Germany have been able to hold fort till now.
...
31 - Hello, and welcome back to the second half of the India vs Germany game, as the hosts get the proceedings underway.
...
Half Time! And we come to the end of the first half, with Germany leading 2-0. The Germans have dominated the proceedings, but India have shown good intent on the counter. Despite having just 32% possession, the Indians have managed to get 5 shots on goal, as compared to Germany's 2. Unfortunately for the hosts, though, Germany ended up scoring with both those shots.
...
29 - Akashdeep is curiously playing in a much more withdrawn role now, and plays a pin-point ball to Gurjant in the circle. However, there was too much pace on the ball, and Gurjant could not control it.
...
28 - India make a referral and get a PC! Germany are already down to 10 men, with Winke being green-carded. Manpreet injects, Rupinder flicks it, but German keeper Walter got down well, to make the save.
...
27 - Lalit picks up the ball, passes to Gurjant to launch the counter. Gurjant plays a brilliant through pass to Mandeep on the left, as the attacker did well to enter the circle, and pull the trigger, but it is blocked.
...
26 - The Indian defence is struggling badly at the moment, as Tirkey loses the ball in front of the circle. However, Lalit was there to make amends.
...
23 - Lalit advances to the by-line, and passes to Lakra inside the German circle. Lakra pulls the trigger, but it is wide.
...
21 - Chinglensana wins the ball near his own circle, plays it to Akashdeep, who passes it to Mandeep. The latter entered the circle and pulled the trigger, but it is saved.
...
19 - GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLL!!! Grambusch makes it 2-0! After a brilliant move that involved 6 one-touch passes, Grambusch found himself with some space in the circle, and slotted it into the goal.
...
18 - Sunil and Uthappa play  a give and go on the right flank, but Uthappa's positioning was a bit off, and the ball rolls out of play.
...
16 - Amit Rohidas gives away a PC! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLL!!!! Haner puts Germany in the lead! Haner lines up his shot, and coolly slots it past Chikte in the bottom right corner.
...
And Germany get the second quarter underway...
...
End of Q1! It has been a fascinating first quarter, with Germany dominating the proceedings. However, India have shown some bite on the counter. Interestingly, the Germans, for all the possession that they had, have failed to get a single shot on goal.
...
15 - Chance! Rupinder plays it into Chinglensana from a long corner. Chinglensana did well to dribble past a couple of defenders, make his way to the by-line, and play a cut-back across goal. However, there was nobody there to capitalise on that chance.
...
14 - Akashdeep surges upfield again, but is barged off the ball. The Germans are closing India down very well.
...
12 - Sunil surges forward in an attempt to intercept the ball, but he had run a stride too many, as it goes on to hit his foot.
...
9 - India are under some pressure in their own defending third, but Lakra shows great composure to hold on to the ball, and win a free hit.
...
7 - Akashdeep breaks down the middle again, passes to Varun, who passes to Lalit, but the latter loses the ball.
...
5 - Varun plays a long cross-field ball to Akashdeep, who fizzes in a hopeful cross, as the ball ends up in goal. However it was hit from outside the circle, and won't count. The fans here don't care, though, as they go into a rapturous applause.
...
4 - Akashdeep makes the first real move for India, as he intercepts the ball in the middle of the park, and passes to Chinglensana, who is fouled.
...
2 - The Germans are completely dominating possession in the opening exchanges, as India are pegged back to their defending third.
...
1 - And we're off, as Germany look to dominate proceedings from the start.
...
And the lineups are out! Here's how India will star the game.
...
...
Now, the Indian National Anthem....
...
But first, the national anthems. The German national anthem to play first...
