And that's that from the Amsterdam Arena in Netherlands. England walked past a limping Netherlands side. They looked good in defence and will come away as the better unit in the midfield. At the end of the day, there are plenty of positives for England to take away, all made to look better thanks to that signature Jesse Lingard strike from outside the box.
That's that from the yap centre. Stay with them eyes open 'cause yours truly will be delivering his 5 talking points from this game in a few.
92' Memphis and Van Aanholt try to combine on the left flank and they pull it off and the latter whips one in for Dost to attack but the tall, lanky fella is flagged offside.
90' Depay plays a driven, delightful ball into the box and he finds De Ligt but the Ajax man is caught offside. Marginally. Depay has been good tonight, he has really looked like the man who could inspire this Netherlands team to level the scoreline.
88' Memphis and Van Aanholt play a quick one-two on the left side of the box but the latter's shot is wayward and it runs out for a throw-in. Not a corner. A throw-in. Yes.
84' Memphis Depay once again with the industry and the enterprise. He finds Hateboer inside the area but his shot is blocked on its way to Pickford who picks it up with ease.
82' Dele Alli tries to whip one into the area from the left side of the box but Welbeck can't get to it but he traps in and drags it back for Tripper who lets one rip and forces a save out of Zoet. Good, positive stuff from the youngster there.
82' Depay goes for goal and it's a good effort but Pickford was always watching and it is played straight into his hands. Good handling from the England goalkeeper there.
81' Reckless challenge from Stones on Babel as he absolutely rams into him from behind right outside the area. Netherlands have a freekick 25 yards out. Van Aanhold and Memphis Depay are standing over the ball.
71' Memphis Depay gets outnumbered in the centre of the pitch but Chamberlain is penalized and Netherlands can go again. Memphis Depay is raring to make a point here! He controls an awkward ball and almost snatches at it with a sortof bicyclish kick which is easy to pick up for Pickford but still, points for trying, Memphis.
63' Maguire bravely surges ahead and frees up Sterling on the left side. He drags it back for Rashford who tries to get a shot away but it is blocked and Netherlands break on the counter but even that comes to nothing as Stones intervenes inside the box.
62' Space for Depay on the right side. He cuts it back for Wijnaldum who can't get some power behind it and Dost tries to flick it on the way and he can't get it past Pickford. In the end, it was way easier than Pickford would have thought it would end up being.
62' Memphis Depay cuts in and goes for something special from outside the box but the shot is deflected out of danger. But they get right back on the ball owing to England's sloppiness. Dost cuts one back for Gini whose shot is deflected out for a corner. The corner is rubbish though.
First good passage of play from England in the final third. Oxlade Chamberlain plays a delightful ball into the path of Jesse Lingard who then releases Danny Rose on the left side. He drags it back and Jesse Lingard has a lot of space and you can't give this lad space outside the box and he sends one past Zoet into the lower left corner and that's the first goal of the night and it looked great. Looked great.
56' Some more abysmal passing from Netherlands in the centre of the park which is followed by some sloppy play by England which gifts the ball right back to Netherlands. Please don't become a pattern. Please. Don't.
53' The corner is headed into the 6 yard box for Sterling/Henderson. They both ended up tackling each other and handling the ball to throw that chance right out the window. Not the way the game is played, lads. COME ON!
51' Marcus Rashford is denied a penalty! Rashford is played through by Oxlade-Chamberlain and he uses his pace to get to the ball ahead of De Ligt and Zoet but De Ligt catches Rashford and the United man hits the deck. No penalty, says the ref. Come on. More calls for VAR, at least in my head, i.e.
49' Depay with a dangerous corner kick which is headed back into his feet. He tries to whip in a cross but the ball rolls out for a goalkick. Interestingly, Netherlands put the ball in the back of the net following Depay's exploits but too bad the man from Lyon took the ball over the goalline before putting the cross in.
48' So far it looks pretty much the same in the first half. But Memphis Depay is able to whip one in from the left flank. Dangerous seconds for the England defence but they deal with it and break on the counter with Sterling foraying into the attacking half as Danny Rose is afforded plenty of space and time to feed either Lingard or Rashford who both go to the near post. And Danny boy goes for the far post. Sigh.
46' Chamberlain leathers one from outside the area but it is blocked out of danger by Dost and England struggle to create from thereon and the ball finally ends up with Zoet.
PEEEEEEEEEEP! It's halftime at the Amsterdam Arena. England have been the better side but they are yet to come up with the goods in that part of the pitch that actually matters and there have been no great chances for either side so far.
43' Rashford looks to stretch Holland by embarking on a solo run but he gets crowded out in the final third and the men in orange survive that high-speed scare.
42' Sterling finds Rashford on the left side as they break on the counter but the Dutch are quick to get back into their defensive zones and England are forced to go down a gear and eventually the attack comes to nothing.
39' Memphis Depay whips one in and Pickford is caught in two minds and gets stuck on the edge of the 6 yard box, flat-footed. But Dost does not meet the ball well and it goes high above the crossbar.
38' It's low stakes, low tempo from Netherlands as they probe the final third to make something happen but it's just a series of overhit crosses just going all ping-pong on the football pitch here.
36' Zoet comes crashing into Sterling but he just got there in time to clear the lovely through ball that Lingard played from his defensive half to find Sterling on one more of his enterprising runs. That was risky from Zoet but full marks to him for the doggedness.
35' Tripper surges into the attacking half after winning the ball from the men in Orange and tries to pick out Rashford but he leaves the United man with a lot to do and the ball runs into the arms of Zoet.
34' Chamberlain and Lingard combine to good effect around the area before the former releases Trippier on the right with an excellent diagonal ball but the youngster goes for the cross first time and it is hit straight at Zoet.
