Portugal happy to pass the ball around. It's a stroll in the park for them right now. Switzerland had to be on fire tonight but they've barely even had the sparks. One last attempt. Rodriguez floats in one more uninspiring ball into the box before Portugal wins it back and get on the break once again. Ronaldo and Carvalho combine to set it in motion. It finally falls to Bernardo Silva who gets the better of Djourou with some neat trickery but Djourou recovers well and puts in a tackle and Portugal win a corner.

89' Andre Gomes flexing his muscles down the left flank, gets the better of Lichsteiner. However, his attempt at trying to free Mario is a tad too heavy and Sommer goes to the ground and collects it comfortably. Could have been a whole lot worse for Switzerland.

87' Switzerland trying to find something. They're not sitting deep anymore. But still no quality in the final third as Portugal edge closer and closer to booking a spot in Russia.

85' Switzerland once again squanders possession but gets it back. Lichsteitries to haul a long early ball into the box but it is hardly threatening and Portugal deal with it comfortably. It's been that kindof a day for Portugal's defenders. Not a lot to worry about.

83' Xherdan Shaqiri frees up Lichsteniner who puts in a delightful ball into the middle. Nobody gets anything on that and yet another Swiss attack comes to nothing.

Cristiano Ronaldo botches the best chance of the night. In acres of space, one-on-one with the goalkeeper and he tries to do too much and ends up gifting the ball to Sommer. That is so so uncharacteristic of him.

77' Portugal taking their sweet time on the ball now. But some neat interplays down the left flank leads to Cedric being freed up on the right flank. But he can't pick out any of his teammates in the centre. However Portugal get back on the ball and Joao Mario tries to whip one in from the right flank. Djourou intervenes, using his hand in the process. Only a corner though.

75' Bernardo Silva has been the most creative player on the pitch tonight. He frees up Cedric with a delightful lob down the right flank. The resultant cross is a tad too early for Cristiano Ronaldo who can't bring it into control. Attack fizzles out.

Shaqiri unleashes a shot from 30 yards away. It is deflected off and looks to have been running away for a corner before Seferovic extends his leg to try to redirect it into the post. He only knicks it and the ball goes out for a goalkick.

65' Rodriguez is back in attack and tries to drive in a low cross. It almost reaches its target. Pepe clears the danger away from the center of the box.

63' Portugal have been able to stop Rodriguez from coming forward by constantly overloading the right flank in attack and as a result, Switzerland are finding it hard to find an outlet on the flanks.

61' There's a lot more authority about Portugal's game now. They are unhinged in pressing and latching into the ball. Switzerland are trying it difficult to pass it out from the back. But they find some space and shift gears suddenly. Mehmedi's weak soulless cross kills that chance.

60' Seferovic brings Pepe down near the corner flank. The Swiss striker is clearly frustrated. He has found himself isolated for major parts of the game.

Cedric combines well with Silva on the left flank. A neat little one-two later Bernardo Silva is freed up inside the box on the left side and he takes his time before pushing it into the danger area. The ball ends up on Andre Silva's feet. Silva's a bit surprised at first but he slots it home. He slides on his knees and dabs in joy.

Bernardo Silva cuts in from the left flank and lays it off to Ronaldo. He finds some space to get a shot away but it flies high and wide and away from relevance. Not quite happening for one of the best players of all time tonight.

Bernardo Silva is brought down near the half way line and Portugal get a freekick. Switzerland win it back and tries to start an attack from the back. Lichstenier with some real enterprise, forays into the final third and is brought down by Carvalho.

48' Patricio serves it deep into the Switzerland half. Carvalho does well to feed it to Joao Mario. Mario's cross is not a great one and is easily dealt with by the Swiss defence.

47' Zakaria with his first contribution to the game. Tries to run around Eliseu on the right flank and almost gets the better of him but Eliseu puts in a last-ditch tackle to kill the attempt.

It's a nightmare ball for the defence. And 2 Switzerland defenders and Joao Mario bump into each other and Sommer. The ball finally finds some breathing space and rolls into the goal. Portugal with the first dab.

39' Andre Silva with some trickery down the right flank. But Portugal really gotta work on their crossing. Once again it's delivered straight into Sommer's hands.

38' Portugal a lot sharper now. Finding each other in space, showing some real intent. William Carvalho shifts the ball to Bernardo Silva who tries to release Ronaldo down the centre but his pass is cut out.
