FULL TIME : FRANCE 1-2 SPAIN

A very controversial Penalty decision at right on 90th minute for Spain resulted in a 2-1 victory for the European Champions. It was a game of two halves as France looked the better side in the first half while Spain in the later. Pintor took France ahead after the Spanish defense were stranded with a calm finish in the bottom corner. Spain equalised in style after ten minutes right on half time after Miranda headed in a thumping header following a cross.

Spain dominated the second half and just as it looked that the game would be decided via the dreaded Penalty Shootout, the referee steps up and awards a very soft penalty to Spain and as usual Abel Ruiz stepped up for the big occasion.

Spain go through the Round of 16 and has qualified for the Quarter Finals!

11:58 (GMT)17 OCT 2017

11:42 (GMT)17 OCT 2017

11:41 (GMT)17 OCT 2017

08:37 (GMT)17 OCT 2017

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the FIFA U17 World Cup 2017.

Today's Round of 16 matches include a big one between European rivals France and Spain and it will be a battle of wits as much as a battle of skill at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati.

France will be confident of a good showing after leading the goalscoring charts at the FIFA U17 World Cup 2017 so far. Their prolific striker  Amine Gouiri and playmaker-par-excellence Yacine Adli will be the ones to watch out for today.

Meanwhile, Spain have recovered well from their opening day defeat to Brazil to record two straight wins over Korea DPR and Niger to make it into the knockout stage. Although the Spaniards have been as eye-catching as their French counterparts, they are a dangerous team in the knockout stage considering they won the semi-final and final of this year's U17 Euros on penalties.

The match kicks off at 5 pm Indian Standard Time at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati.

Here are the two squads:

Spain
Alvaro Fernandez (GK), Mateu Jaume, Juan Miranda, Hugo Guillamon, Victor Chust, Antonio Blanco, Ferran Torres, Mohamed Moukhliss, Abel Ruiz, Sergio Gomez, Nacho Diaz, Pedro Ruiz ,Marc Vidal, Alvaro Garcia, Eric Garcia, Diego Pampin, Jose Lara, Cesar Gelabert, Carlos Beitia, Victor Perea, Alfonso Pastor

France
