So another humdinger comes to a close, England have qualified. Tomorrow is the big one from Mohali with Australia taking on India for a winner takes all clash. See you then with the live coverage. Goodnight and take care!
...
Angelo Mathews: "It was a brilliant effort in the first six overs from them. Hasn't been a good tournament for us. We have a new squad. Good learning experience for the youngsters. Our senior guys needed to step it up which we didn't."
...
Eoin Morgan: "It was tighter than we had hoped for. First six overs were crucial. Lot of confidence from today's match. We adapted in 2010, and to do that would be incredible."
...
What a roller-coaster of a match. Sri Lanka were down and out for the first 10 overs, but then some lusty hitting by Mathews and Kapugedara and then Perera helped Sri Lanka stay afloat, but the excellent overs at the death particularly from Jordan and Stokes, killed the chase. Angelo Mathew was hobbling and he could not muster enough to take his side through.
...
Buttler: " We needed Stokes to hit that last ball for six as well, too, him hitting that last ball for six…and that fantastic over at the death. Needed to adapt to the conditions better, and it is incredible to qualify for the Semis.. We are a young group, so it is special."
...
...
Jos Buttler is the player of the match, for his 37-ball 66 runs.
...
...
Perera and Mathews clobbered the spinners and Sri Lanka came storming back in, and in the end not enough ammunition to see his side through.
