4 Gold, 3 Silver, 7 Bronze - Day 9 of the Commonwealth Games 2022 has been the best for India so far this season. 

To start off with, Priyanka secured a silver medal in the Women's 10km Race Walk event. She was followed by Avinash Sable and the Indian Men's Fours team as they bagged silver medals in the Men's 3000m Steeplechase and Men's Fours Lawn Bowls Final, respectively. 

The Indian Wrestlers once again clinched 6 medals for India, which saw the nation winning 12/12 medals across all Wrestling events. Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Vinesh Phogat and Naveen won the gold medals in their respective categories. In addition, Pooja Gehlot, Pooja Sihaj and Deepak Nehra managed to win bronze medals for India.

The Indian Women's Cricket Team defeated hosts England to secure a place in the Gold Medal match. Meanwhile, the Indian Men's Hockey team won 3 - 2 vs South Africa in their semi-final match to storm into the summit clash of the event.

Indian boxers Nitu, Amit Panghal, Sagar and Nikhat Zareen defeated their semi-final opponent and will look to return to India with nothing less than gold medals. Jasmine, Rohit Tokas and Hussam Uddin Mohammed lost their semi-final bouts but still won bronze medals for India as every boxer who qualifies for the last four is assured of a medal.

The Para Table Tennis stars added more silverware to the Indian tally where Bhavina Patel sealed a gold medal and Sonalben Patel settled for a bronze.

Sagar wins and heads into the final!

Sagar's dominance in the first two rounds was enough for him to secure the win as despite a moderate final round, he is through to the finals with a scoreline of 5-2. He is just one match away from cementing his name in the history books.

Sagar strengthens his lead after round 2.

Once again, Sagar has dominated his opponent in this round and won over the judges. His lead looks unassailable now and the finals are just three minutes away from him.

Bhavina Patel wins the gold medal!

Bhavina Patel beats the Nigerian star in straight games with a scorelines of 12-10, 11-2, 11-9. It wasn't as easy as a usual straight victory as she had to fight hard in the first and final games but her brilliance in the big points sealed the gold for Bhavina.

Rohit crashes out and settles for bronze!

Heartbreak for Rohit! He misses out on an opportunity of making the finals after losing to Zimba through split decision in final round. Nevertheless, he will be happy with the bronze.

Three judges went in favour of Rohit in the second round and it's even stevens before we head into the final round.

Sonalben Manubhai Patel wins 11-5, 11-2, 11-3 and clinches the bronze medal!

A thoroughly deserving win for Patel, who had absolutely no issues taking down a minimal threat from Sue Bailey. Bailey tried her aggressive best to take away a few points from Patel, but the Indian was up to the task on most occasions, thwarting any opportunity for the England player to go ahead in the game. Another medal for India!

Patel allows absolute zero wiggle room for Sue Bailey, who has no answers to the Indian's smashes or clever deception on returns. Patel only one game away from a bronze medal!

Satwik and Chirag are into the final four!
The Indian duo of Satwik and Chirag comes out on top as they steamroll past the Australian pair with a scoreline of 21-9, 21-11. It was a dominant display from the Indians and they will be looking forward to the semi-finals.

Manju Bala records a throw of 60.96m in her third attempt, which is her best of the event. The Indian athlete finishes 12th in the standings and has been knocked out of the competition.

Hussamuddin loses 4-1 to Ghana's Joseph Commey, who wins on points by a 4-1 margin. 

Bronze medal though for Hussamuddin, as every boxer who qualifies for the last four is assured of a medal!

Satwik / Chirag win the first game.

End of 4th quarter: INDIA  3 - 2 SOUTH AFRICA

India's Jugraj Singh converts a penalty in the 57th-minute corner to get his name on the scoresheet. South African player Owen Mvimbi scores a goal a minute later but that doesn't help the team's cause as they lose the game 3 - 2 vs India. 

India will compete in the Gold Medal match, while South Africa will compete in the Bronze Medal match.

WRESTLING - Men's Freestyle 97KG, Bronze Medal Match: Deepak Nehra vs Tayab Raza

Deepak Nehra wins the bronze medal!

19 year old Deepak Nehra has made his name in the history books after securing a bronze medal for India. He gets the better of the experienced Tayab Raza after achieving victory with a scoreline of 10-2 . Despite being passive in the first round, he found his way back into the match and showed enough aggression to win it all.

South Africa's Ryan Julius finds the back of the net off a penalty corner deflection. They have 15 minutes left to level scores and take this game into shootouts. Meanwhile, the Indian side will have to hold on to their lead if they are to progress to the summit clash.

Pooja Sihag wins the bronze medal!

India's spectacular outing in wrestling continues as Pooja Sihag brings home the fifth wrestling medal of the day. It was a one-way traffic of the highest order as she blitz past the Australian as soon as the game had started.

BADMINTON: 

Women's Doubles Quarterfinal - Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand thrash Tahlia Richardson/Katherine Wynter 21-8, 21-6 to storm into the semifinals!

The Jamaican pair had absolutely no chance against the formidable style of play from Treesa and Gayatri, who at one point had a massive 11-0 lead in the second game which highlighted the Indian pair's dominance on the day. 

So a terrific result so far in badminton, with PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and now Treesa/Gayatri all making it to the semifinals in their respective events!

Last Badminton match of the day will feature Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in the men's doubles - match will start at 11.45 PM IST.

End of 2nd quarter: INDIA 2 - 0 SOUTH AFRICA

Abhishek and Mandeep Singh scored a goal each to hand India a 2-goal lead against South Africa in their semi-final encounter. They are strong favourites to win this match and storm into the summit clash of the Men's Hockey event.

BADMINTON: Women's Doubles Quarterfinal - Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand

India lead 1-0; Treesa/Gayatri take the opening game 21-8. 

A stunning start from the young duo of Treesa and Gayatri as they demolish their Jamaican counterparts in the opening game to win 21-8.  If things go by what we're seeing right now, we could be in for a really early finish!

WRESTLING - Men's Freestyle 74KG, Gold Medal Match: Naveen vs Muhammad Tahir

Naveen wins the gold!

India bags the third wrestling gold of the day and this time it's Naveen who has delivered. He has shown absolute superiority today and destroyed his opposition today. The victory was achieved with a scoreline of 9-0 after a dominant second round.

PARA TABLE TENNIS: Bronze Medal Match - Raj Alagar vs Isau Ogunkunle, men's singles

An unfortunate end to a rather promising campaign for Raj Alagar, as he loses 3-0 (3-11, 6-11, 9-11). 

This match was the second time Alagar was facing Ogunkule, with the Nigerian having won their previous encounter 3-1 the last time the two of them squared off three days ago. Ogunkule was outright impressive with his strokes all the way in this game, dousing away an sort of a challenge Alagar had to pose in his quest for the bronze medal.

End of 1st quarter: INDIA 0 - 0 SOUTH AFRICA

An excellent start to the game by both points as neither of them conceded a goal during the first 15 minutes. However, the Indian side will have to ensure they convert penalty corners during the next 45 minutes having missed all opportunities early on during the game.

Minutes after Lakshya Sen's qualification, Kidambi Srikanth pulls off a 21-19, 21-17 win over England's Toby Penty!

Srikanth was challenged quite a bit in the second game by Penty, who drew level at 12-12 - but the Indian did well to pull back some momentum and win back to back points to register a 4-point lead at 17-13. Eventually, Srikanth pulled off a comfortable win and will now play for a spot in the final!

Lakshya Sen qualifies for the men's singles semi-final with a 21-12, 21-11 win over Mauritius' Julien Paul!

Domination from Lakshya as he didn't allow Paul to make a comeback at any point in the match, despite just enjoying a 2-3 point lead in the second game. The youngster continues his fine vein of form, and he's now the clear favourite to bring home another medal for India through badminton!

WRESTLING -  Women's Freestyle 53KG, Final Group Match: Vinesh Phogat vs Maduravalage Don

Vinesh Phogat wins her third consecutive CWG Gold!

Phogat runs through everyone in her group and secures herself a gold medal. She acheivies victory by fall after pinning her opponent. It took her three minutes but she gave absolutely nothing away to the Sri Lankan.

BADMINTON: Men's singles quarterfinal - Kidambi Srikanth vs Toby Penty

Kidambi Srikanth leads 1-0; takes opening game 21-19

Srikanth opened up the game in style and at one point, enjoyed a six-point lead. However, Penty made a strong comeback to reduce the deficit to a point at 19-18 in Kidambi's favour. The Indian though, did well to hold on to his slender advantage and converted a second game point to pick up the win!

Lakshya opens up the match with a terrific game in his favour, a 21-12 win that now seems him only one win away from a spot in the top four. The youngster's been in surreal form throughout, and he's continuing to impress!

With Ravi Dahiya, the gold medal was never in doubt. You wouldn't see a more single-sided final of any competition. He just gave absolutely nothing away and registered a 10-0 win by technical superiority.

Sharath / Sreeja win 3 - 2; into the Final

Sharath Kamal Achanta and Sreeja Akula register an 11 - 7 victory in their final game to storm into the final. They won the first couple of games and then lost the next two. However, they gave their best shot and won the decider, which guarantees them a medal.

Scores levelled at 2 - 2

Australia's Nicholas Lum and Minhyung Jee bounce back to register wins in the next couple of games. They win 9 - 11 and 12 - 14 to stay alive in the match. We're now heading to the final game, which would decide the winner of the contest.

LAWN BOWLS: Men's Fours Gold Medal Match - Norther Ireland vs India

Northern Ireland defeat India 18 - 5

SILVER FOR INDIA! 
The Indian side were struggling since the start of the game and managed to pick up only 5 points throughout the game. Northern Ireland, on the other hand, were at their best and deserved the gold medal. 

Not a good end for the Indian Men's Fours team. However, they surely have a lot to learn from their campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

India beat England to qualify for the final!

Sneh Rana holds her nerve in the final over! Take a bow, India! They've held their nerve brilliantly to make the final of the Commonwealth Games 2022 where they await the winner of the Australia-New Zealand semifinal clash. Harleen Deol put shelled a catch off the fourth delivery but with 11 required off the last ball, even a six from Ecclestone wasn't good enough. India win by 4 runs!
