A clean sheet for India along with a strong first-half performance. Goals from SV Sunil, Akashdeep Singh and Sardar Singh give India a 3-0 win.

FULL-TIME WHISTLE! India win 3-0!

58' - HUGE SCRAMBLE! The shot is saved by the keeper but the ball remains in the danger area. Players from both sides converge in a melee of stick swings. The referee awards another PC, but India refer it.

58' - PC FOR CANADA! Pereira receives the ball in the circle and is able to find an Indian foot.

57' - Almost a goal for Canada! A long ball enters the Indian penalty area and the Canadian striker hits it instinctively. It is well-directed but shaves the outside of the left-hand-side post.

18 circle penetrations from India compared to 2 from Canada just shows the domination that the Men in Blue have had in this game.

55' - Mandeep enters the circle from the left with a dazzling piece of skill, cutting past three defenders in the process. However, his shot is well saved by the Canadian goalie.

55' - Dangerous ball played into the CAN circle from the left.

Talwinder was there at the back but the last Canadian stops it from going to him.

54' - India are just passing the ball at the back now, keeping possession and not allowing Canada to attack.

52' - Canada with a shot on to the sideboard after Pereira enters the circle from the left with some deft skill. The follow-up shot is not as good though and that's a change gone for Canada.

51' - A good chance for India as Ramandeep Singh comes in from the left but his cross his well-dealt with by the Canadian defense. No danger!

48' - IND on the mark and have kept the tempo up. They go to Sunil on the right and then play it back and keeping possession of the ball.

So a goalless thrid quarter there would be suiting the Canadians down the to the core. Looking bleak for them to make any sort of a comeback.

Harmanpreet's flick is chased down. But he has a second bit and that is saved by the keeper. Comes out to Chinglensana who smashes it on the reverse.

Carter is beaten but that ricochets off the post.

Wasn't given initially there. But Talwinder asked for a referral and their appeal is upheld as the defender had obstructed him.

Harmanpreet's effort was deflected by the rusher but was still heading towards the goal.

But Tupper has his stick up in the air and gets it away from danger.

38' - Another PC for IND. This time Ramandeep gets to the ball and his quick work finds the foot.

Deception and this a variation as the trap is pushed to Manpreet who is standing behind Jasjeet. Could flick across the goal but Carter is there to save.

35' - All action here as IND gets another PC. Mandeep with some good work and finds the foot of a Canadian defender.

35' - NEARLY!

Nearly four their for IND as Sunil gets to the left of the goal near the baseline. But Carter closes the angles down.

35' - YELLOW CARD!

Canada down to 10 for the next 5 minutes as Smythe is sent to the sin bin for a push at the back on Sunil.

Canada looking much better right now. And could have had India in some trouble.

34' - SAVED!

Dahiya stands tall in front of two batteries. No fooling him as he slaps that one away.

33' - HORRIBLE FROM INDIA!

Canada pressing high and Harmanpreet with not much option and he loses it in the circle. And huge scramble as Dahiya makes a couple of saves

With the Pakistan game tomorrow it will certainly be interesting to see whether Roelant Oltmans will rest some key players.

And that should do it for India. 3-0 to India going into half time and they have been both impressive as well as intimidating.

30' - Indian lose the ball in a dangerous area there as Sardar Singh is dispossessed. CAN thrash the ball which is lifted up off an India stick.

But Pardeep Mor is there to get the ball away.

29' - All India in the first half and it looks like we are going into the break with a three-goal advantage for India.

And the men in Blue truly deserve this.

The best opportunity for Canada. Some persistent work on the left finds Van Son at the far post but he is put off by Surender's swinging stick and fails to finds the target.

Didn't really get a hold of it. Went high and for the top corner again. But that is off the mark.

CAN finally relinquish poessesion and now IND into the opposition circle again. Akashdeep on the left finds the foot.

24'- Canada going back and working the ball out. But there is just not much space afforded by the Indian defence there.

23' - Nice play from Perreira. And wins a free hit. But India get it back soon.

The Canadian haven't been able to penetrate the circle so far.

IND, on the other hand, have had seven shots on goal courtesy of nine penetrations.

Maybe their longest spell of the ball. India have been utterly dominant so far.

Nearly the fourth. Another melee in front of Carter there as Kothajit plays in a dangerous ball there.

But Canada gets away with it as Sunil is deemed to have committed a foul.

Roelant Oltmans looks quite pleased and we are off for the second period now.

And that's it. The hooter sounds and India are 2-0 up and deservedly so.
