So that finishes the proceedings at Raipur, and the IPL caravan now moves on to the first of the two double-headers that are there in store for you this weekend. Tomorrow, the Kings XI Punjab take on the Rising Pune Supergiants in a dead rubber, while the Mumbai Indians take on the Gujarat Lions in an extremely crucial game. We hope to have your company for that. Till then, it's goodbye and goodnight!
Nair: "I have no words to describe the feeling. I think it was my best IPL knock. I played a couple of seasons of IPL now and I am used to adjusting from the longer formats. I wasn't connecting it very well; happy that I did tonight but happier that the team won."
Zaheer: "Amazing the boys fought out there - not only in batting but fielding too. Everyone wanted this win badly. We needed to win those crucial situations but we knew that we were going to hang in there till the end. This season has been about the young guys who have been amazing."
Warner: "Fielding was sloppy. If you miss the chances, you pay. We thought 150 was par and sure it held up but it's a hard ground to defend. Big boundaries and Karun Nair played an exceptional knock. We have another game coming up and we have to refresh."
The youngsters stepped up once again for the Daredevils tonight. Nair played a match-winning innings while Pant played a decent supporting role as well. Brathwaite fired for a few overs, but in the end, it was the Karnataka batsman, Nair, who guided the team home. With this win, Delhi have kept their hopes alive of qualifying for the playoffs. The horses for courses approach that Delhi have deployed so far, has worked and it looks like they will continue doing the same.
Karun Nair, REMEMBER THE NAME! What a magical innings. He kept his cool even after those last two overs that were brilliant from Mustafizur and Bhuvneshwar. He finishes unbeaten 83 off 59 with 3 sixes and 8 fours, which included the match-winning boundary.
19.6 Bhuvneshwar to Karun, 4 runs, DD WIN, Karun Nair take a bow. Coming back to the ball, it was a length ball angling in, Karun backs away and swats away and Warner dives and misses it. He slams the ground in disgust. Karun exults, DD have breathing space.
19.5 Bhuvneshwar to Karun, FOUR, back of a length, Karun backs away and flat bats it over mid-off. Oh, Nair, you beauty! What a shot down the ground. Even Warner cannot stop it, who ran across from long on, and dived to stop that, but fails.
19.3 Bhuvneshwar to Karun, 1 run, fast ball on off, extra bounce too, Karun backs away and then can get only his gloves onto it. That ball went only towards extra cover.
19.2 Bhuvneshwar to Samson, 1 run, yorker on the boot, squeezed it to fine leg. That was an excellent yorker on leg stump. Sanju somehow got something behind it, and scampered for a run.
18.5 Mustafizur to Karun, 2 runs, full ball on off, driven to long on. We go upstairs to check for the run-out. Karun is in. Excellent cricket all around. Nair hits the ball towards long on and sprints back for the second, before a brilliant throw by Warner enables Ojha to take off the bails.
18.2 Mustafizur to Brathwaite, OUT, Fuller ball on off, Brathwaite cuts, the ball flies towards short third man where Sran takes an absolute blinder. It has been a day of the fielders, it seems. They have been taking blinders, affecting run-outs and spilling sitters. They are, in essence, shaping the game.
17.5 Bhuvneshwar to Brathwaite, FOUR, length ball angling in, Brathwaite swats, gets the inside edge past Ojha. Fortune favouring Brathwaite at the moment, who looks to cut a shortish ball, gets an under edge past the keeper towards fine leg for four.
17.1 Bhuvneshwar to Brathwaite, FOUR, full ball on off, Brathwaite slashes it with that power and the ball screams across to the point boundary. Brathwaite comes into the act now. Full and wide outside off, and Brathwaite unleashes a ferocious cut shot past point for four. DD are sailing towards victory at the moment.
16.6 Sran to Karun, SIX, slower ball outside off, Karun sits to one knee and crunches it over deep mid-wicket. Sweet sound! Nair is playing a gem here. Another slower one, only fuller this time, and Nair, after waiting for ages, heaves it over deep midwicket for another six. He is playing on 70 off just 51.
16.3 Sran to Karun, SIX, short ball, Karun waits for it on the backfoot and unleashes a scathing pull over mid-wicket. Change of pace, short ball, it sat up, and Nair absolutely smoked it high and long over deep midwicket for a massive six. He is proving out to be a match-winner here. Can he take them through?
16.1 Sran to Duminy, OUT, Slower ball, and full towards then stumps, Duminy walks down the track and looks to go downtown. He fails to clear the fence as he lobs the ball high up in the air. This time Warner gulps it at mid-off and slams the ball on the ground in anger.
15.6 Mustafizur to Duminy, 1 run, DROPPED, this time by Bhuvi at sweeper cover. Bhuvneshwar, who had affected a brilliant run-out, has spilled an easy catch. What has happened to the Sunrisers? First Warner, and now Bhuvi! Two excellent fielders have dropped two sitters.
15.4 Mustafizur to Karun, FOUR, now the scoop is played to perfection as Karun walks across to a slower ball and heaves it behind the stumps. Mustafizur was darting them short, and Nair, judiciously, walks across the stumps and scoops the ball over the head of Morgan at short fine leg for four.
