An entertaining first half comes to a close as Kerala Blasters go into the tunnel as the happier side among the two. A slow start to the game was converted into a challenging contest with lots of scoring chances. However, Kerala Blasters scored their two goals from set-piece situations including a penalty, which was indeed a debatable decision. NEUFC got their chances but failed to take them.

45+1' Rakesh Pradhan delivers in a low ball towards Kwesi Appiah but Costa Nhamoinesu bails the home side for a corner.

45' GOAL! Gary Hooper goes central and scores. Subhasish Roy Choudhary dives to the other way. Kerala Blasters up 2-0 before half-time but the penalty call will be debated for some time now.

44' PENALTY! Seityasen Singh swings a venomous corner from the left. The corner finds the header of Costa Nhamoinesu which is blocked on the line, the ricochet is again blocked by Benjamin Lambot on a reflex. Rakesh Pradhan goes flying inside the box and conceded a penalty.

43' Gallego has been excellent so far. Yet another floated ball confuses the Kerala Blasters defence and almost led to goal but for Albino Gomes who came off his lines to clear out the mess.

38' NorthEast United FC get a free-kick swung in by Federico Gallego after Bakary Kone brings down Lalengmawia in the centre of the park. The resultant free-kick is however cleared away by Kerala Blasters.

37' CHAOS! Absolute chaos in the Kerala Blasters box. The resultant corner is whipped in by Federico Gallego which causes trouble inside the box. However, it was Costa Nhamoinesu who finally managed to get a touch on the ball and allow Albino Gomes to collect.

36' CLOSE! Pressure play from NorthEast United FC forces Costa Nhamoinesu to play a wayward pass which lands up with Khassa Camara inside the Kerala Blasters half. Camara pulls the trigger from distance, and the shot takes a deflection of Sergio Cidoncha and goes out for a corner, inches wide of the target.

35' Gallego whips in a cross with a lot of venom across the Kerala Blasters box but the ball has a lot of weight on it and it runs out for a goal-kick.

33' Gallego chips it over the Kerala Blasters defence to play Rakesh Pradhan on towards the goal but Costa Nhamoinesu's dynamic presence never allows Pradhan to get to the ball and a potential goal-scoring chance goes abegging.

30' Well, the Highlanders are forced to commit bodies forward. Federico Gallego finds Ashutosh Mehta with a brilliant through ball, splitting apart the Kerala Blasters defence. Mehta takes his time to set him up for the shot but the shot is wide. Probably the closest, NEUFC came to scoring in this game so far.

27' The resultant corner is short and headed away to safety by Kerala Blasters.

26' NorthEast United FC break in the counter as Ninthoi receives a ball from Khassa Camara. The youngster lobs it in towards Kwesi Appiah but it is Nishu Kumar again who tracked back in seconds to shoulder it away for a NEUFC corner. A good bit of play both sides.

25' Kerala Blasters seem to have upped their ante suddenly realising the deep NorthEast United defence. Nishu Kumar swings one ball in towards Hooper but it is headed away.

23' HOW DID HE MISS THAT? Kerala Blasters are clear on goal after Khassa Camara gives up possession in his own half and Gary Hooper rushes on towards the goal. He tried a bit of combination of play with Sergio Cidoncha and gets the ball back in front of goal, and he skews it up for a goal-kick from 6 meters out from the target. It was probably easier to score than to miss from that angle. A big scare for NorthEast United FC.

21' Laltathanga Khwalhring swings in a delicious cross into the middle with Gary Hooper lingering around but Benjamin Lambot rises high and heads it away to safety. The resultant throw-in from the other side is cleared away with ease with no trouble whatsoever for the NorthEast United FC defence.

18' The defensive mindset of NorthEast United FC is very visible in the first few minutes of the game so far. Gerard Nus' men are reluctant to commit a few bodies upfront to secure their back four. The approach is not allowing the Highlanders to test the Kerala Blasters defence as of yet. Perhaps a more open approach is needed as the 'visitors' trail 1-0 already.

16' Both teams play it around themselves as the game seems to have slowed down a bit. The teams are yet to settle down and get the hang of it in front of goal from open play.

13' Sergio Cidoncha skips past two NorthEast United defenders after receiving the ball from Jessel Carneiro. The Spaniard crosses in towards Gary Hooper but the cross is low and is held by Subhasish Roy Chowdhary.
