Manish Singh is thirteen seconds behind the leader of the pack, not a huge gap. He is still in contention, and thankfully he hasn't got a warning yet.
It will be interesting to see when the current Olympic 20 km walk record holder Ding Chen makes a move for the lead. At the moment he is at 26th.
Manish Singh though has walked a wonderful race so far, he is seventh just 12 seconds behind the leader, in the pack for the bronze medal.
This is BIG. Ganapati Krishnan is disqualified as well, after three warnings for a loss of conatct.
Ding Chen of China who finished second in the Olympic trials is another one yet to make a move.
The leading group has started to make a move away from the trailing group. Miguel Lopez, the favorite for the race is yet to make a move.
The Indians are doing well, Manish is just trailing the leader by 7 seconds and Ganapati 24 seconds behind the leader.
Ganapati Krishnan is not far behind, he is just two seconds behind Manish, but is 26th.
After six kilometers, Manish Singh is still in the first group, just four seconds behind the leader of the pack, Tom Bosworth.
The rules allow each athlete a total of three warnings, after which they are disqualified from the race. You're warned if both your feet are off the ground, or if you bend your knee during the walk.
Gurmeet Singh is disqualified from the race after three warnings, he had two loss of contact and a bent knee.
Four kilometers are over. Maish Singh and Krishnan Ganapati are doing brilliantly, they are 10th and 11th respectively, in the group leading the race.
Gurmeet Singh is unfortunately at number 73, with a time of 8:25 mins after the first two kilometers.
Krishnan Ganapathi is next at number 26 with a time 8:18 mins.
After the first 2 kms, Manish Singh is currently thirteenth in the standings with a time of 8:17 mins. Brilliant.
Krishnan Ganapathi is on BIB 166, Gurmeet Singh on 168, and Manish Singh on 169.
Seventy-four athletes will take place in the finals of the 20 km walk. There are three Indian athletes competing, namely Krishnan Ganapathi, Gurmeet Singh, and Manish Singh. Not a lot of people have given them a chance, and to be honest it will be pretty unreal if they manage to pull out a medal.
