Comprehensive win for India in the first Test then. The Windies will really have to get their act together to challenge India in the upcoming Tests. It's been an absolute pleasure bringing the game to you. From Manish, Kislaya, Aadya & Kaushal, it's good night. See you on Saturday for the second Test!
...
Man of the match Ravi Ashwin: "The fast bowlers bowled really well in the first innings. I didn't find the rhythm in the first innings as the long spell wasn't coming. But it did come after lunch. I was speaking to Anil bhai as well about how my rhythm was and we worked this morning on it. It's all about finding the right rhythm, if everything is in sync you start finishing well. The body drives through the crease. I felt I got that today."
...
Indian skipper Virat Kohli: "Wow. I didn't know that this was our biggest win outside of Asia. JIt feels good to get the first win on the board. Everyone was excited to play the game, we had enough practice and everyone was eager to get on with it. Scoring wasn't that easy initially, West Indies bowled well. Couple of their bowlers rushed the batsmen. With 5 batsmen and at 70-2, we had to take responsibility. Shikhar was batting very well. Ashwin as well, brilliant innings down the order. With 5 batsmen, we had to deepen the order so we had Ashwin at six. He's pretty good at both. We had a look at the wicket, our initial thought was 3 spinners, but with the amount of grass on offer we decided for 3 pacers. Ishant was unlucky despite bowling well. Really happy for Shami who is coming after injury, he's a perfect Test bowler. Sandeep Patil asked me whether I felt like hitting a six during the innings, but with 5 batsmen you don't feel like hitting a six. I'm just happy to contribute to the win. Our aim is obviously to win every game. I think we have a good bowling combination, if they give us a drier wicket, we have the spinners."
...
Ravichandran Ashwin has been adjudged as the Man of the Match for his knock of 114 and his 7/83 in the second innings.
...
West Indies skipper Jason Holder: "They put a pretty good first innings total. Didn't bowl well in the first innings and it was a daunting task to chase something like 560. But there were some positives, Kraigg Brathwaite batted well. Obviously we need to bowl better, build up some partnerships, string together some dot balls, build pressure. We'll see the conditions there and see what combination we can play. Not sure how the pitch will play. Normally there's a pretty flat pitch. Been hard to predict the conditions in the Caribbean of late."

Story of the game: Kohli wins the toss, elects to bat, India score a mountain of runs on the back of Kohli's 1st double century and Ashwin's 3rd Test century. West Indies got bowled over for 243 in the first innings, with Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami among the wickets. India enforced the follow on and there was no joy again for the hosts with Ashwin running riot. Good win for India.
...
A picture perfect moment for Anil Kumble as he wins his first match as head coach of the Indian cricket team. His captain, Virat Kohli, scored a double-century and his chief wicket-taker stepped up in foreign conditions to take 7 wickets and win the game.
...
And just like that, India have won the Test by an innings and 92 runs.
...
77.6 Ashwin to Gabriel, OUT! Ashwin bowls this slower through the air, it beats the attempted defence and clatters into the stumps. Game over!
...
77.5 Ashwin to Gabriel, no run, defends nicely.
...
77.4 Ashwin to Gabriel, FOUR! Oh, what a shot. First up, flighted ball outside off and he absolutely launches into it and lifts it towards the midwicket fence.
...
Nevertheless, it was a gritty and a determined performance by Bishoo and Brathwaite, who batted like the top order batsmen should have batted, but didn't. Shanon Gabriel is the new man.
...
77.3 Ashwin to Bishoo, OUT! At long last! Gone! Full ball, driven in the air towards short midwicket where he picks out Cheteshwar Pujara who's stationed there. It's been a good innings but he has to walk back.
...
77.2 Ashwin to Bishoo, FOUR! Full ball outside leg, he's lifted this superbly towards deep backward leg. It makes its way to the fence after Ishant Sharma put on his best Superman imitation to get to the ball.
...
77.1 Ashwin to Bishoo, no run, Bishoo defends.
...
Brathwaite is past his 50. Kohli will be scratching his head.
...
76.6 Mishra to Brathwaite, 2 runs, 50 for Ricky B! Mishra bowls a seam-up delivery and he just guides it through third man.
...
76.5 Mishra to Brathwaite, no run, nice googly, adjusts to play in the leg side.
...
76.4 Mishra to Brathwaite, no run, a little bit of a yes-or-no, but mostly no, and they decide against taking on point.
...
76.3 Mishra to Brathwaite, no run, in no hurry to get to his 50 here.
...
76.2 Mishra to Brathwaite, no run, plants a massive foot down and blocks.
...
76.1 Mishra to Brathwaite, no run, walks across and defends.
...
Bishoo survives. The hosts are still hanging around. The lead is about to go below 100 runs.
