Later today, India's Vinesh Phogat takes on China's Chun Lei in the final of Women's 50 Kg category. Earlier, she began the day on a bright note by defeating Hyungjoo Kim of South Korea in the qualification round, thus booking a berth in the quarter-finals. I the quarters, she overcame Marina Zakshevskaya by a comprehensive 12-3 margin to enter the last four.
In the semis, a difficult challenge awaited her in the form of Japan’s Yuki Irie. The match, itself, was a tight one. At one point, the scores were tied at 4-4 but Vinesh prevailed as she came out on top in the engaging tactical battle.
