Mauricio Pellegrino has confirmed Southampton are working on a deal to sign Spartak Moscow winger Quincy Promes.

Pellegrino revealed the two clubs are yet to agree a price, but when asked if he remained confident of signing the player, he said: "I don't know. We are waiting for an answer. We have got another five or six days to keep working and pushing, but we will see."

"He is an important player," Pellegrino added. "There are a lot of players I would like to bring in but he is one of the players that we are looking for."We have followed him many times and it is one possibility. We will be pushing until the end but we know that the market is not easy."

Lucas Moura believes a switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Tottenham in January could be the right move for him, according to Sky Sports News.

Spurs remain interested in the 25-year-old as a potential alternative to Malcom - a fellow Brazilian at Bordeaux, according to Sky sources.

Moura has been impressed with how Tottenham play and believes Mauricio Pochettino could be the right manager for him to progress his career.

However, a string of other clubs are also understood to be keen on the forward, with Sevilla now interested and Borussia Dortmund considering a move if they sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Real Madrid's French boss Zinedine Zidane says his job is on the line when his side faces PSG in the Champions League.

Jamie Vardy has revealed his takes speculation over his future insisting he is staying at Leicester.

“It doesn’t affect me,” he told Sky Sports News, when asked to comment on reports linking him with a January move.

“You just take it with a pinch of salt, it’s just rumours...I am here at Leicester, concentrating on Leicester until Leicester tell me otherwise.”

Asked if he is staying at the King Power Stadium, he added: “Yes, I’m here.”

Southampton are close to completing the signing of Guido Carrillo from Monaco, manager Mauricio Pellegrino has confirmed.

Pellegrino is hopeful of finalising the deal before the weekend."We are working really hard to try and move forward," he said.

"Hopefully we can have some good news tomorrow, but still nothing has happened.

"We are confident. I think the player wants to come, to be part of our squad but the most important part of the negotiations are still there so we have to continue to work.”

Jose Mourinho says "Madrid is on fire" but poured cold water on reports Cristiano Ronaldo could return to Manchester United.

"I should be the last one to add some fuel to the fire," said Mourinho. "Madrid is on fire, the results are not good and it is a club where I worked three years. I care about the club and I don't want to add fire.

"To put some water on the fire I would say Cristiano is the kind of player every manager wants, every club wants.

"But only one manager can have and only one club can have - Zidane and Real Madrid, that's my feeling."

Real Madrid will only allow Cristiano Ronaldo to leave next summer if they succeed in bringing in Neymar.

Ronaldo reportedly wants to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season and a return to Manchester United is his preferred destination.

Madrid will not place obstacles in his way as long as they receive a suitable offer for him, although his exit will depend upon whether or not they secure the services of Neymar from PSG.

The European champions could even offer Ronaldo as a makeweight as part of their future attempts to sign the Brazilian.

Tottenham have been quiet so far in this transfer window but Mauricio Pochettino is remaining patient, despite watching many of the club’s top-six rivals making major moves.

Pochettino said: “You need to follow your way. You cannot look next to you, you must believe in the way that you want to create your philosophy and your project.

“Then what is going on next to us – yes, we are aware about that, but you cannot imitate and cannot do what another club are doing now.

“You need to be strong; you need to have personality, character and not be scared about what happens now. Sometimes you can drop a little bit but if you are strong enough, in the future you can win.”

Inter Milan are looking to bring in West Ham transfer target William Carvalho this month.

Joao Mario's loan move to the Hammers will allow Luciano Spalletti to free up space in the squad and finances to bring the Portuguese controller to the club.

Roma are in talks to sign Atletico Madrid attacker Yannick Carrasco on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Arsenal and Chelsea had been linked with a move for Carrasco following reports Atletico are looking to offload the Belgium international.

But, with Edin Dzeko set to join Chelsea, Roma have moved for Carrasco and will offer €25m to sign the 24-year-old permanently at the end of his loan.

Real Madrid have informed David de Gea’s representative Jorge Mendes that they will try to sign him once again in the summer.

Madrid scrapped their plans to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao this month. However, they remain convinced that they need a new goalkeeper and are willing to go all out to sign De Gea at the end of the season.

It is believed the 27-year-old would cost Madrid around €100m this summer.

Arsene Wenger has suggested he is happy if Arsenal do not manage to sign Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the January transfer window closes.

Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe close to joining Aston Villa on loan.

Chelsea are tracking Paris Saint-Germain youngster Abdourahmane Barry, according to Sky sources.

The 17-year-old centre-back is being watched by a number of top European clubs. German club Wolfsburg are understood to be showing interest in the PSG U19, who can play also play at right-back and defensive-midfield.

Swansea and Sevilla are in talks over a potential loan deal for Roque Mesa, according to Sky sources.

Mesa not played as much as he would have liked for Swans and has struggled to make an impact since his big money move.

In terms of the loan deal nothing has been finalised or agreed yet.

Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez was at the Emirates last night, to watch Arsenal beat Chelsea.

A deal to take Aymeric Laporte to Manchester City is close to being agreed, according to Sky sources.

City are happy to match the defender’s £57m release clause – and negotiations with the Athletic Bilbao player are taking place.

The signing of Laporte would break City’s current transfer record of £55m that they paid for Kevin De Bruyne.

Real Betis are ready to make an offer to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura.

Lucas has been told to find a new club by PSG coach Unai Emery, and he has been linked with Premier League trio Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham.

The Brazilian reportedly turned down a loan move to Betis in December, but his agent was invited to watch the game at home to Barcelona last weekend.

That has reportedly helped to boost Betis’ chances of signing Lucas and they are now prepared to offer an initial €18 million, with add-ons taking the deal to €30m.

He acknowledged in his post-match interview that defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League could bring his tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu to a premature end.

Manchester City star Sergio Aguero has been sounded out over a shock return to Atletico Madrid this summer.

Pep Guardiola does not want Aguero to leave but is eyeing Antoine Griezmann, opening up the possibility of a deal. The French forward has a £85m buy-out clause and City value Aguero at around £60m.

Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna could be linking up with Serie A bottom side Benevento.

Sagna is a free agent after leaving Manchester City in the summer.

Schalke are optimistic that a deal to take Baba Rahman back to the club will be done in the next few days from Chelsea, according to Sky sources.

The player still has a house in Gelsenkirchen and hasn’t played since returning to Chelsea midway through last season.

Schalke head coach Dominico Tedesco said: “When we get the go-ahead from Chelsea, it won't take more than a minute to talk with Baba.”

Barcelona are reportedly looking to add another South American to their squad in the form of 21-year-old Gremio midfielder Arthur Melo.

Arthur has a release clause worth €50m (£43.73m). Barcelona are hopeful of signing him for half that figure and are said to be willing to allow him to return to Gremio on a one-year loan.

Swansea midfielder Roque Mesa is close to joining Sevilla on loan.

The Spaniard has managed only nine Premier League starts since joining Swansea from Las Palmas last summer and he is on the verge of returning to his homeland with Sevilla.

Athletic Club are weighing up a January move for Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal.

With Athletic centre-back Aymeric Laporte set to complete a €65m move to Manchester City, the Basque outfit are set to be left short at the back.

And former Bilbao star Monreal is being targeted as a replacement alongside Real Sociedad's Inigo Martinez.

Roma have denied they have agreed a deal with Chelsea over the sale of striker Edin Dzeko.

Sky in Italy reported on Wednesday that Chelsea and Roma had agreed a deal for Dzeko to move to Stamford Bridge, and that it was now down to the Premier League side to agree terms with the player.

However, Roma sporting director Monchi has now contradicted those claims, saying: “At this moment I don’t like the offers that we have received, so we do not take them into consideration.“All the clubs in the world listen to the offers that come, we are ready to listen and then decide.

“Now Edin is here and we are happy. This means that what arrived [bids] was not good."

Borussia Dortmund have rejected a second approach from Arsenal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international has reportedly agreed terms with the Gunners, who are keen to add another striker in the current window.

But despite Arsenal upping their bid to £43.6 million on Wednesday, Dortmund were unmoved and continue to hold out for a deal worth more than £50m.
