Manchester City will increase their efforts to sign Real Sociedad defender Iñigo Martínez this month.

Andy Carroll’s chances of securing a move to Chelsea have been hit by the news that he will be sidelined for about a month with an ankle injury.

Chelsea wanted to sign Carroll on loan but he has been unable to train and he has missed West Ham’s past three games. A scan today confirmed he will not be able to play again until after the window has closed.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has NOT travelled with the Borussia Dortmund squad for tomorrow's game against Hertha Berlin.

Amid reports linking the striker with a move to Arsenal, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has said: "Auba trains in Dortmund. We have the impression that he is busy with other things in his head and is not fully focused.

Borussia Dortmund confirm that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not travelling with the squad to face Hertha Berlin tomorrow.

Goodbye Dortmund?

James Rodriguez says he will decide what happens when his loan with Bayern Munich ends in 2019, but he is happy with the Bundesliga side.

Rodriguez is on a two-year loan with Bayern from Real Madrid and told Spanish TV programme El Chiringuito: "For now, I’m only thinking about Bayern. I’m very happy here and no-one knows what might happen in the future.

"My present is at Bayern, and it depends on me if I’m going to leave or stay."

Watford boss Marco Silva says he is in constant communication with his board about bringing in reinforcements during the January transfer window.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton says he has a 'competitive' squad but would like to bring in attacking options and wants to address the void left by Izzy Brown's return to Chelsea with a knee injury.

Jérémy Toulalan and Bordeaux have mutually agreed to terminate his contract.

Bastian Schweinsteiger has signed a new one-year deal which will see him remain with MLS side Chicago Fire for the upcoming season.

Schweinsteiger, who joined Chicago last year from Manchester United and played in 24 games, scoring three goals, said in a statement he is determined to help the club compete for silverware.

"I am very happy to re-sign with the Chicago Fire, and to continue what we started in 2017," Schweinsteiger said.

Talks are taking place regarding Emerson Palmieri joining Chelsea from Roma this month.

Players agent Garcia confirmed “There’s still nothing certain, we are in a stage of discussions. The two clubs are now talking, we’ll see if it will be successful.”

Huddersfield manager David Wagner says the club are no longer active in the January transfer market, having signed Alex Pritchard from Norwich.

"Of course something could change in the next two or three weeks but if everything goes to plan we've done what we wanted to do and I'm very happy with what we have together, and this is why we don't have to discuss further names in this window," said the manager today.

Real Madrid and Barcelona eyeing Real Betis midfielder Fabián.

Pardew on Evans speculation. "From my point of view there is no bid so there’s nothing to discuss. Jonny hasn’t come and see me this week so I’m in the dark a little bit. We haven’t had a phone call from another football club and that’s where it stands."

Valencia have initiated a move for Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian.

The La Liga side want to bolster their right-back options and they are keen to bring back Portugal international Joao Cancelo from his loan spell at Inter Milan.

However, they are exploring other options and one of those is Darmian, who has managed only two Premier League starts this season.

Chelsea are weighing up a move for Roma's former Manchester City striker Edin Dezko.

The Blues are in talks with the Serie A outfit over a possible deal for Brazilian full-back Emerson and have also asked about Dzeko - who netted 29 times in the Italian top-flight last season.

Crystal Palace are in talks to sign Lille captain Ibrahim Amadou on loan. They're also keen on his team-mate Boubakary Soumare.

Michy Batshuayi is likely to leave Chelsea on loan this month, according to Sky sources.

Sevilla want the Belgium international, and there's the real possibility of a loan swap with West Ham for Andy Carroll.

West Ham manager David Moyes watched Batshuayi score for Chelsea against Norwich in the FA Cup on Wednesday. Moyes always like to watch players live before signing them.

Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario has turned down a loan move to West Ham, according to Sky in Italy.

Inter, who bought Mario for £40m from Sporting Lisbon in 2016, were happy to let him move to the Premier League on loan. However, the Portugal international does not look keen on a move to the London Stadium.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants to sign another left-back as competition for Marcos Alonso.

With his first choice Alex Sandro costing £60m and also attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, he’s been forced to explore other options.

As a result, the champions have enquired about Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri, who is valued at £20m.

West Ham have admitted defeat in their quest to bring Robert Snodgrass back to the club from Aston Villa.

Coach Alan Irvine said: "I believe that he is there for the year, I don't know what the arrangement was, I am not aware of any opportunity for us to recall him."

Everton could be tempted to make a move for Bayern Munich defender Juan Bernat in a bid to solve their problems at left-back.

The 24-year-old has fallen out of favour at Bayern and could be interested in a move to Goodison Park to ensure he gets first-team football.

Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin could be on his way out of the Emirates.

The Serie A champions are looking to make a summer bid for the Spaniard defender and will tempt him with the opportunity to play Champions League football next season.

Neymar, Eden Hazard and Robert Lewandowski are all targets for Real Madrid as Florentino Perez looks for his next attacking trio to replace BBC.

The Brazilian forward is the Blancos' main target, with the Bayern and Chelsea stars also wanted. Madrid's terrible run of form has the club looking to rebuild, with Hazard and Neymar central to plans.

Harry Kane and Mauro Icardi are the other forwards being discussed if the club can't land Lewandowski, who will be 30 in August.

Borussia Dortmund have targeted Michy Batshuayi as the man to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should he move to Arsenal in January.

Although the German side had intended to hold onto Aubameyang until the end of the season, the Gunners are pushing to sign him this month, forcing Dortmund to look at potential successors.

With Chelsea willing to let Batshuayi go, Dortmund could be able to land the Belgium international to lead their attack.

Chelsea are competing against Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain for Jean Michael Seri.

The Nice midfielder is considered one of the biggest talents in Europe, and Blues boss Antonio Conte would like to reach a deal before the January window closes.

Conte is reportedly unimpressed by Tiemoue Bakayoko, who has not made a major impact so far at Stamford Bridge since his summer switch from Monaco.

Christian Benteke is on Chelsea's shortlist of options if the club can't get a deal done for Andy Carroll.

Carroll is still the club's first option, but the Blues want a tall striker and the Crystal Palace man is viewed as a potential option.
