Watford in £7m Gibbs talk


Watford are back in talks over a deal to sign Kieran Gibbs after Arsenal lowered their original £15 million asking price. A clutch of Premier League clubs had previously shown an interest in Gibbs, but were put off by his valuation. However, Arsenal are now reportedly willing to sell the left-back for £7m and that has prompted Watford to make a fresh approach.

Chelsea and Liverpool look set to battle it out to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after he turned down a new £180K a week deal at Arsenal. Arsene Wenger held talks with the England midfielder yesterday in a final attempt to persuade him to stay at the Emirates.

Sky Sports News understands Wenger will tell the player and his representatives in the next 24 hours whether he will allow him to leave before the window closes next week - or let him see out the final year of his contract at the Emirates.

Philippe Coutinho is hoping Barcelona signing Ousmane Dembelefrom Borussia Dortmund does not mean they have given up on signing him. The Brazilian's position has not changed – he still wants to leave Liverpool and sign for the Catalans. Sky Sports say: We are told his “mood is very low at the moment”. Jurgen Klopp says Coutinho won’t play against Arsenal on Sunday because he is still injured (back).

PSG reject Barcelona's Di Maria bid

PSG have turned down an offer from Barcelona for Angel Di Maria, reports AS. Di Maria, 29, is a long-term target for Barcelona and has been linked heavily with a move to the Nou Camp since Neymar left the Catalans for PSG. 

According to AS, Barcelona offered PSG €35m for the Argentinian, but it was rejected. The player is keen to move to Spain.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis says there has been no recent contact from Manchester City regarding defender Jonny Evans. The Baggies have already rejected an offer of £18m for the Northern Ireland international. 

"At present there has been no contact in the last couple of days," Pulis said in his press conference. "Jonny is a West Bromwich Albion player and we are hoping we can get the situation resolved."

Snodgrass to have Aston Villa medical

Robert Snodgrass will have a medical at Aston Villa this afternoon ahead of a season-long loan from West Ham, according to Sky sources. Steve Bruce has beaten off interest from Sunderland and Birmingham to sign the Scotland international. 

Snodgrass only signed for West Ham in January for £7.5m, but was told he was surplus to requirements by Slaven Bilic two weeks ago.
