That was a tightly contested match - Mumbai hogged the ball, but NorthEast had much the better of the chances. Yusa, in particular, will rue his miss. Emiliano Alfaro ran his socks off and put in a masterclass of how a striker should perform off the ball - chasing and harrying everything and everybody.A rush of blood from Reagan, who had another poor game, saw Pronay Halder take full advantage to win the penalty. It wasn't one for the ages from Forlan, but it went in - end of the day, that's all that matters. Vingada's team should take heart from another fine attacking performance, but the veteran Portuguese will be worried about his team's over-reliance on Alfaro.Meanwhile, Mumbai have got the results they wanted from the opening two games and their coach will be pleased with the slickness of their passing game. He will be hoping though that Forlan can be partnered up front soon by someone, because the Uruguayan played his best football when he dropped deep.Overall, a good game that probably went to the more deserving side. It was a pleasure bringing you this match, many thanks for reading!Anirudh Menon signing out. Goodnight.

Peep! Peep! THAT IS IT.
FULLTIME - MUMBAI BEAT NORTHEAST BY THE SOLITARY GOAL

20:50 (IST)7 OCT 2016

93' Yusa takes the corner - and its one more corner. THIS IS NAILBITING. PAUL IS STAYING PUT IN THE OPPOSITION BOX.... but Anwar Ali does supremely well to head it away. The moment the ball gets out of the box, the Mexican ref blows his whistle!

20:49 (IST)7 OCT 2016

SUBRATA PAUL IS UP FOR THE CORNER!!!

20:49 (IST)7 OCT 2016

92' OH ALFARO. What a tenacious little terrier this guy is. He chases a hopeless long ball, and his pressure makes Mumbai concede a corner

20:48 (IST)7 OCT 2016

91' A long ball by Reagan, is too long and it runs straight through to Valpato. Poor from the rightback

20:47 (IST)7 OCT 2016

3 minutes added on

20:47 (IST)7 OCT 2016

89' Mumbai aren't letting the ball get out of that corner

20:46 (IST)7 OCT 2016

88' He curls it in deep - he really ought to have gone for the shot - and it's too deep. Valpato collects and releases Haokip down the right. The kid shows wisdom beyond his years, by running it to the corner and winning a freekick

20:45 (IST)7 OCT 2016

87' Romaric ignores a Haokip challenge in the way a college kid would hold off a primary school kid, but the men in white are being faced with a wall of Blue. Sena Ralte gives up a freekick by diving in late on Nico Velez. Romaric stands over the ball - great position for a left-footer, this

20:43 (IST)7 OCT 2016

86' SUBSTITUTION - a very tired Forlan OFF, Haokip ON

20:42 (IST)7 OCT 2016

85' OH WHAT A TURN OF PACE FROM ALFARO. The striker breaks down the left, but Vodacz does brilliantly to intercept the ball. The Uruguayan is a picture of frustration here

20:41 (IST)7 OCT 2016

84' Cafu with a superb dink that almost finds Gerson. It's blocked well by Lazaretti.

20:41 (IST)7 OCT 2016

83' Forlan does well to keep the move alive, as he digs up a pass to Cafu, but the Brazilian's pass is over hit. Somehow, Mumbai retain possesion.. but Forlan gives it away with a tired cross

20:39 (IST)7 OCT 2016

82' SUBSTITUTION - Defederico OFF, Gerson ON. Mumbai are batting down the hatches here - Defederico has put in a superb shift today.

20:38 (IST)7 OCT 2016

81' CAFU WITH A SNAPSHOT!! But Paul does well to get down and save it.

20:38 (IST)7 OCT 2016

81' Zokora OFF, Wellington ON. It's a defensive midfielder on for a defender. With virtually no real options on the bench, that's about as attacking a change as NorthEast can make/

20:37 (IST)7 OCT 2016

80' Halder is feeling the effects of the Mumbai heat - and seems to be cramping up. But the lad's a fighter, and he soldiers on

20:36 (IST)7 OCT 2016

79' Reagan Singh gives the ball away, and it stops a very threatening looking NorthEast attack. Mumbai slow the game right down and pass it around.

20:35 (IST)7 OCT 2016

78' UFFF!!!!! Narzary steps inside with a delightful shimmy and absolutely blooters it a goal. it flies just wide of the post

20:34 (IST)7 OCT 2016

77' It is absolutely amazing how Alfaro is still going pedal-to-the-metal here. SUBSTITUTION for Mumbai Costa OFF, Cafu ON

20:33 (IST)7 OCT 2016

76' The men in white attempt to jumpstart their passing game, and ping the ball around well - before Alfaro turns on the afterburners and finds Katsumi on the edge of the six-yard box - his shot is poor!!

20:32 (IST)7 OCT 2016

75' NorthEast United look dead on their feet - a glitch in the ISL schedule means that this is their 3rd game in 6 days - and that is just painful

20:31 (IST)7 OCT 2016

73' Alfaro is flinging himself at everything here - and his industry is rewarded as he wins the ball and sparks off a NorthEast attack. Narzary slips in the Uruguayan striker - but his tired shot is meek and poses no trouble to the Mumbai keeper

20:30 (IST)7 OCT 2016

72' Mumbai are still bossing the match here - and Zokora's pained expression reflects that as he heads clear another Defederico cross.

20:29 (IST)7 OCT 2016

71' SUBSTITUTION - Borges OFF, Jerry Mawihmingthanga ON.

Jerry it is. The 18-year old is a bright young talent, and much is expected of him. Maybe not in this match though

20:28 (IST)7 OCT 2016

70' It's all a bit scrappy now, and possession changes hands multiple times, before Romaric does well to break with the ball. Narzary swings in a teasing cross that is cleared nervously by a panicking Mumbai defence.

20:26 (IST)7 OCT 2016

69' Mumbai attempt to do what Delhi did to Chennai  yesterday - kill the game off by passing it around amongst themselves

20:25 (IST)7 OCT 2016

67' YELLOW for Halder. He threw an elbow in the face on Narzary - and the NorthEast bench get on their feet. This is turning feisty!

20:23 (IST)7 OCT 2016

Superb defending from Ali sees off Romaric - and the ball's cleared. The Ivorian takes exception to something or the other and attempts to start a fight. The ref moves in quickly and things calm down. Shame. Nothing like a good fight to spruce up a football game, eh?

20:21 (IST)7 OCT 2016

65' Corner now, and NorthEast are amping up the pressure. Yusa to take it

20:21 (IST)7 OCT 2016

64' NorthEast win a freekick, and Romaric stands over it...

20:20 (IST)7 OCT 2016

62' NorthEast painful lack of attacking options on the bench is getting exposed here - they have nobody apart from young Narzary that they can throw on to mix things up - and Vingado has already played that hand

20:19 (IST)7 OCT 2016

61' Superb tackle from Khongjee stops a threatening NorthEast counter in its tracks, and Leo Costa bears down on the NorthEast goal - his shot is well blocked there.

20:18 (IST)7 OCT 2016

60' ... and they swing one in, Subrata comes out for the ball, but Reagan jumps in and whacks it away for a corner. Woeful lack of communication there.

20:17 (IST)7 OCT 2016

59' Alfaro with a neat touch gets away from Defederico and sets another attack on its way - but Mumbai clear and break...

20:15 (IST)7 OCT 2016

57' Before the change happened, Romaric gifted the ball to Mumbai just outside his own penalty box, but the Ivorian did well to muscle his way back into possesion.

Back in realtime, Nico Velez runs offside and another NorthEast attack dies down.

20:13 (IST)7 OCT 2016

56' SUBSTITUTION - Seityasen OFF, Narzary ON. NorthEast could do with a bit of Hallicharan magic right about now.

20:13 (IST)7 OCT 2016

The great man rifles it into the roof of the net. Paul did supremely well to dive the correct well and get a fingertip to it - but there's just too much power behind it

20:11 (IST)7 OCT 2016

54' GOAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!!! FORLAAAAAAAANNN!!!!!

20:11 (IST)7 OCT 2016

53' PENALTY FOR MUMBAI. THAT WAS SUCH STUPIDITY FROM REAGAN SINGH. HILARIOUSLY AWFUL MISTAKE from the defender. Halder knows Reagan's sweeping leg is coming, and falls over obligingly.

20:10 (IST)7 OCT 2016

51' Defederico and Forlan are really combining well here. The Argentinian has been given the freedom of the park, and the Uruguayan legend is dropping deeper and deeper - but this means there's no one at the business end to do any damage

20:08 (IST)7 OCT 2016

50' Another delightful  touch from Defederico starts another attack, but there are runners beyond Forlan and the Uruguayan has to checking back - killing the momentum and the attack in one motion

20:08 (IST)7 OCT 2016

49' OHOHOHO!!! Defederico weaves his way through a flock of white-shirted bodies but cannot find the finish to match the dribble. The move started when Halders hopeful ball bounced its way to Forlan who laid it off to Defederico

20:06 (IST)7 OCT 2016

48' Alfaro flicks on Gurungs ball, but Velez is just narrowly offside. That was delightful from the Uruguayan striker.

20:05 (IST)7 OCT 2016

47' OH NASTY! Sena Ralte rakes his studs down Katsumi's ankles, and NorthEast have the ball back

20:04 (IST)7 OCT 2016

46' From the corner, Paul comes to punch the ball away, but he hits everything but ball. He's lucky there as the ball bounces away to safety

20:03 (IST)7 OCT 2016

45' OOOOH! WOW!! Some nifty play there between Defederico and Vodocz wins the Argentine some space. He dinks it forward to Forlan but a diving Goian header clears the danger. Brave defending from the Romanian

20:01 (IST)7 OCT 2016

Peep! It's on - A determined looking Forlan kicks it off
