Accelerating the pace, Djokovic takes a 4-1 lead early on. I think Del Potro might be losing this one based on the headspace he seems to be in right now, but he's dug himself out of situations like this already so you can never really write him off!
Touch and go, easy as you like! Novak Djokovic hammers that one in, it kisses the line. Sublime shot-making, and he's about to build on that break. Not going very right for Del Potro right now, and it's looking like a love hold for the Serb at just the right time!
Djokovic has pulled off a stunner! The Serb breaks in the third to take a 3-1 lead and sees an angry Del Potro on the other end! When a single point is contested for over a minute, you know it's a big fight.
Djokovic sets it all up for an early break here and he has two break points in the third set. 10 minutes in, and Del Potro fights back that break point with an ace down the line. Easy as you like. But probably not.
Hold on, hold on, and he does! Del Potro builds for the hold at 2-0 and he's racing across the baseline like a break-dancer! That footwork is great, and Del Potro keeps moving to keep Djokovic on edge.
This set is eerily like the first one at exactly the same stage... and goodness, there's some high quality tennis from both. He's had his lulls, has Novak Djokovic, but he's returning Del Potro's melting-forehands at some level!
Novak Djokovic appears to have woken up from an initial lull, and he's hitting hard and fast now! After exchanging a few textbook cross-court forehands, Djokovic varies with one down the line - and then sends Delpo's return right back with a drop shot!
The Serb had to do all the hard work yet again for a service hold. Once more, Del Potro made it a deuce game as Djokovic started missing routine backhands but the World No. 2 managed to avert disaster.
