10:40 (IST)22 NOV 2017

Good morning and welcome to the Sportskeeda liveblog of the 2017 Hong Kong Open Superseries first round. Second seed PV Sindhu meets Hong Kong's Leung Yuet Yee for a place in the second round.

It's a battle between two generations. Sindhu is the highly experienced one in this encounter. She is ranked second in the world and is the defending runner-up.

Yee is only 17 and is ranked way below at 786. This is the first time this year she is playing any senior event on the BWF Tour.

Clearly, she is the underdog and is not expected to give much trouble to her highly accomplished opponent. But Sindhu cannot afford to be complacent and needs to be on the alert.

Sindhu has struggled for consistency in the last couple of months. Ever since she won the Korea Open in September, the World Championships silver medallist has not looked the same player anymore except for maybe a couple of matches.

She has run out of steam when she was expected to give a tough fight. She has lost to unheralded opponents as well.

Having already confirmed a place at the season-ending Dubai World Superseries Finals, this is Sindhu's last opportunity to find some form back before she takes on the world's best.

And for that, she would very much like to make this a breezy win.
