The game started off with Bayern Munich dominating possession and looking much the better team, but Zidane's men held on resolutely and grabbed a goal thanks to Danilo's thunderous strike and stole the win.

Next up for Madrid is the Super Cup against Sevilla in Norway and Zidane will be particularly pleased with his team's defensive performance.

FT: REAL MADRID (Danilo) 1-0 BAYERN MUNICH
...
90+2' HOW DID MADRID NOT SCORE AGAIN? Marcelo Diaz is through on goal and tries to take the ball past Ulreich, but the Bayern shot-stopper reads the youngster's mind and makes a great save!
...
90+1' We have got three minutes of added time
...
90' Vidal goes into the book for a late and tired tackle
...
88' Thiago comes off and he is replaced by Bayern Munich youngster Erdal Ozturk
...
85' BAYERN AND THIAGO GO CLOSE AGAIN! Casilla watches another powerful shot arrow over his crossbar, with Thiago chancing his arm from range again. This just looks like one of those nights for Bayern Munich
...
...
82' CLOSE! Thiago strikes a brilliant free-kick, but it goes narrowly wide. So near, yet so far again for Bayern Munich
...
81' We are into the last 10 minutes now, with Real Madrid having a lead to defend. However, they give away a free-kick in a dangerous area. Will Bayern be able to equalise?
...
79' GOOOOOOOOOOOAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! I cannot believe it, we finally have a goal to talk about and what a goal it was as well! Vasquez makes a lung-bursting run and feeds the ball to Odegaard, the Norwegian international sets up Danilo who smashes the ball from 30 yards out!
...
78' More and more substitutions! Marcelo is replaced by Alvaro, Morata is replaced by Mariano and Bayern Munich make a change as well with Martinez being replaced by Pantovic
...
75' CHEEKY! Vidal takes a free-kick quickly in an attempt to release Green in behind enemy lines, but Marcelo sweeps across to rob the 21-year-old of the ball.

Penalties today? I think so
...
71' THINGS ARE HEATING UP! Morata has been simmering for a while now and things boil over between the Spaniard and Rafinha, but the referee is quick to intervene and calm things down.

I have my wish ladies and gentlemen! The game is finally getting interesting again!
...
68' CLOSE! Alaba strikes a ferocious shot which goes just wide of the post. Finally some goalmouth action, but I have a bad feeling that this game is going to end 0-0.

However, there is no need to worry as in the International Champions Cup, if the game ends as a draw, we will go into a penalty shootout!
...
66' Bayern's tempo has dropped from the first half and it looks more like an even game now with Real Madrid finally able to put the Bayern Munich defence under pressure
...
64' Madrid make 3 more changes! Danilo replaces Carvajal, Odegaard replaces Isco, and Leinhart replaces Sergio Ramos
...
62' ISCO HITS THE POST! Real Madrid have finally arrived! Isco gets the ball in the centre of the park and then unleashes a firecracker of a shot which beats the goalkeeper but strikes the post! Unlucky for Isco and Real Madrid
...
60' GLORIOUS CHANCE FOR Morata! Real Madrid are finally playing some football, and an intelligent pass from Marcelo finds Morata in the box, but the Spaniard's finish is woeful and goes well wide of the Bayern Munich goal.

It still remains Real Madrid 0-0 Bayern Munich
...
58' WAS THAT A PENALTY? Morata goes down in the box, but the penalty claims are dismissed immediately by the referee
...
56' Bayern Munich make their first change of the game with Xabi Alonso coming on for Fabian Benko
...
52' SHOT! Real Madrid rob Bayern off the ball and try to counter attack at pace. Vasquez feeds the ball to Morata, but the Spaniard's shot goes high and wide
...
50' The game is almost exclusively being played in the Real Madrid half with Los Blancos struggling to break Bayern Munich's domination over the ball. However, to Zidane's credit, they have maintained a good shape and made it difficult for Bayern to find the opening goal
...
48' The game has settled into the pattern of the first half with Bayern Munich dominating possession, but not creating anything of note. We are in desperate need for some more goalmouth action!
