WHAT A RACEEEEEEEEE!!!! Matej Toth of Slovakia has come from behind to get the gold medal. Phenomenal.

The 45 km mark has been completed and the racers seem to be going through the paces here.

Sandeep Kumar's stock in this race has risen swiftly and after completing 40km, he has climbed into 37th position.
Sandeep Kumar is yet to complete 40 km and we have moved into the business end of his race. Things are going to get really tough for walkers now.
Olympic champion and Olympic Record holder Jared Tallent is showing exactly why he has all those credentials.
He has slipped 5 places to go into 7th place while Evan Dunfee has slipped down three places to be out of a medal position.
To think about it, what a fall from grace it has been for Yohann Diniz, who was heading the race till the half-way mark.
Sandee Kumar is yet to finish his 40km yet but is in 42nd position.
Both Tallent and Hirooki have climbed three places to occupy the top two spots.
There are 10 km remaining in this race and things are getting quite close here.

WOW WOW WOW!!! What is happening here!!! Canada's Evan Dunfee has overtaken Yohann Diniz. That is some walking.
Would you believe if I told you that there was a two second gap in the second and third placed walkers? Two seconds in a walking competition. There definitions of walking are quite different to ours.

WHAT ABOUT THAT!!!! Evan Dunfee has replaced Matej Toth in the silver medal spot.
He is up to 43rd now!!!! Sandeep Kumar has been getting better. This is a good sign.
Sandeep Kumar is 9:42 minutes behind the leader Yohann Diniz, who is competing on another level.
Sandeep Kumar has climbed to 44th spot as a result of other racewalkers going down. He has constantly improved.

What do we know!!!! Yohann Diniz has completed half the race in 1:49:31. It will be tough for anyone to catch him.
The race for second spot, however, is really tight with Matej Toth and Evan Dunfee walking neck to neck.
Yohann Diniz is actually racing against himself here and it will be tough for the others to catch up.
We have almost reached the halfway mark here in the Men's 50km walk at the 2016 Rio Olympics and Yohann Diniz of France is in top spot, followed closely by Matej Toth of Slovakia.
Sandeep Kumar has completed 20km and has stayed put at 50th position. His current time is 1:34:25.

Andres Chocho from Ecuador and Wei Yu from China have climbed places to occupy the 4th and 5th spots, respectively. The Chinese, in particular, has made a sensational surge towards the top. They are everywhere, aren't they?

Sandeep Kumar has now climbed to 50th place and has covered 15km in 1:10:18, which is 4:20 behind the leader.
We have completed 15 km and Jared Tallent is back in third place. Sandeep Kumar is yet to complete his quota though.
The gap between first placed Diniz and second placed Toth is 53 seconds.
By the looks of things, around 24-25 minutes are taken on an average to complete a set of 5 km. The ups and downs in the number decide the winner.
