The scoreline may not reflect it as much, but this has not been an easy win for Saina Nehwal by any stretch of imagination. Nitchaon Jindapol gave her a really good run for her money, and stayed toe-to-toe with her, till late in the second game as well. However, Saina managed to pull away from the Thai shuttler in the end, as she clinched the straight-game victory with a 22-20, 21-13 scoreline.

And that's all she required, as Saina Nehwal closes out the second set to defeat Nitchaon Jindapol 22-20, 21-13.

A brilliant display of badminton sees Saina get 8 match points! 20-12!

Saina is on a roll! 19-12!

Saina opens up a 6-point lead for the first time in the match. 18-12.

And Saina makes it 17-12. The 5-point lead is back.

16-12 to Saina! She is pulling away from her opponent at the right time.

15-12 to Saina! This game seems to have an ebb and flow to it.

She surges into a 2-point lead this time, at 14-12

But Saina snatches the lead again, at 13-12

Jindapol has finally been able to close down the 5-point gap that Saina had created, as she levels things up at 12-12!

But Jindapol pulls it back at 11-12 again!

Saina finally managed to break Jindapol's momentum, as she goes into a 12-10 lead.

10-11! This match is far from over!

Jindapol seems to have found the momentum here, after the break. She makes it 9-11.

And she pulls back another, to make it 8-11

Jindapol comes back with a point after the break. 7-11

Saina extends her lead to 5-points at 11-6, as we go into the change of ends.

An exchange of points sees Saina lead 10-6.

9-5! Saina is well and truly on her way to the third round!

She seems to have gotten into her momentum now, as she surges to an 8-5 lead

Saina again pulls away to a 2-point lead at 7-5

Jindapol pulls back those two points, as she squares things up again at 5-5.

But Saina generates two quick points, to not only go into the lead for the first time in the 2nd game, but also get a 2-point lead at 5-3.

And Saina levels it dup again at 3-3. Both these shuttlers seem to have picked up right where they left off, from the first game.

However, Saina levels things up at 2-2

An exchange of points later, Jindapol finds herself in a 2-1 lead.

Jindapol starts off with a bang in the second game, as she takes a 1-0 lead.

What a game this has been. Both Jindapol and Saina have been at the top of their game, not giving each other an inch. oth went toe-to-toe against each other, till the very end, when Saina finally grabbed her chance and clinched the first game.

And she clinches the first game, as she makes that advantage count, to make it 22-20!

But Saina takes the early avantage at 21-20. Advantage Saina!

And Saina couldn't make that count. Jindapol levels it up at 20-20!

But a determined Jindapol pulls one back again, to make it 19-20. 1 game point for Saina.

Saina restores the 2-point lead. 20-18. 2 game points for Saina!

Jindapol pulls one back, to make it 18-19

And she takes another vital point, to get the 2-point lead at 19-17!

Saina surges to an 18-17 lead again

But Jindapol squares it all up at 17-17 again

Saina breaks the momentum and takes the lead again! Is this the turning point of the game? 17-16 Saina!

Saina levels it up again at 16-16. Nobody's giving an inch, here.

Jindapol seems to have taken the upper hand now, as she takes a 15-14 lead

But Saina levels things up this time, at 14-14

Jindapol takes the lead for the first time in the match, as she goes 14-13 up!

But Jindapol pulls it back at 13-13 again. What a match this is turning out to be!

And Saina keeps that record intact...she makes it 13-12 in her favour

But Jindapol also fights back, levelling the scores at 12-12. She is yet to take the lead in this first game, though.

But Saina is determined not to let her take the lead. She goes 12-11 up.
