Sania Mirza and Peng Shuai had paired up ahead of the US Open Series. The Indian has been struggling to form a stable partnership in 2017 as many of her partners dropped out due to injuries. Peng Shuai too had to withdraw from the Rogers Cup quarters last week after hurting her knee.

This week they look to make amends for their lost opportunity. In the opener, the fourth seeds comfortably beat the German-Ukrainian pair of Julia Georges and Olga Savchuk, 7-5, 6-4.
