Bengal will be looking to build on their good start in the Santosh Trophy main draw, as they come face to face with Maharashtra in their second group stage match at the Howrah Municipal Corporation Ground, today.

The defending champions got their campaign off to a flying start with a 3-0 thumping of Manipur in the first game.

Bengal, who have qualified for the main draw of the Santosh Trophy earlier this year through the East Zone qualifiers, will be looking to notch up yet another title in 2018.

While the atmosphere in the Bengal camp was a bit tensed early on, the defending champions would have been relieved to see their captain Jiten Murmu return to the squad. Murmu, who plays for Mohammedan Sporting, had been absent from training for five days prior to the event.

However,  four other key members have not been included in the squad, something that could hurt them later on.
