After their failure to land a new defender in the transfer window, Manchester United have begun their search for a new sporting director.

Newcastle left-back Achraf Lazaar is on the verge of a return to Serie A. The Moroccon is currently undergoing a medical in Italy ahead of his move to Genoa.

Bordeaux have suspended manager Gus Poyet for one week following his rant against the club owners. Poyet was left angered by the sale of Gaetan Laborde to Montpellier and claimed that management sold the player behind his back.

Bordeaux President Stephane Martin promised that both parties can come to an unlikely agreement after initial reports stated that Poyet was sacked.
