Shahid Afridi to feature in National One-day Cup final for HBL
Former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi has made himself available to play in the Finals of National One-day Cup for the Habib Bank Limited against Sui Southern Gas Company on January 2.
This comes days after Afridi made it clear that he is not retiring from the game anytime soon, and that he still harbours hope of making a comeback into the National team.
Incidentally, the mercurial all-rounder has already retired from One Day Internationals after the 2015 World Cup. However, he has not yet officially called it quits from the shortest format, and even turned up to play for Hampshire in the NatWest T20 blast in England.
Afridi had to resign as the captain of Pakistan's T20 side in 2016 after the dismal performance of his side. He also came under heavy fire from the then head coach Waqar Younis for his on-field tactics and attitude.
This decision thus comes as a surprise and it would be interesting to see if the selectors take account of his performance.

Hussey confused by Australian selection
Former Australian cricketer Michael Hussey has said that he is confused by the selection of both Simon O Keefe and Ashton Agar for the Sydney Test against Pakistan starting on Tuesday.
“I’m more confused.I guess they’re really going to consider two spinners for Sydney. Interesting they’ve gone for two left-arm orthodox spinners to come into the squad. I don’t know what that means; I don’t know what to read into that. “They’ll get up to Sydney, really assess the conditions and see if they can get two spinners into the playing XI," Hussey told cricket.com.au.
He further added if Australia were thinking of playing Agar as a batsman in the Top 6, then it may not be a like-for-like replacement for Nic Maddinson, who was left out after the Melbourne Test.\
“If they go down that route maybe [Matthew] Wade would move up to No. 6 and Agar will be at No. 7. He’s definitely no mug with the bat. I still think you need a really good, proven batsman at No.6, and if he can help out with the ball that’s even better. If they can bowl 10 overs a day that’s helping everyone else out. Agar certainly hasn’t proven himself as a top-order batsman in First-Class cricket but he’s certainly no mug, he got 98 at debut batting at No.11. That’s pretty amazing in itself," he said.
