Ashley Giles returns to his former club Warwickshire
Ashley Giles has come back to his former club Warwickshire in the role of sport director. He was previously serving for Lancashire as the
director of cricket and had a 2-year stint there.
The 43-year-old played for 13 years for Warwickshire and served in the same role from 2007 to 2012, leading the county to the County Championship title in 2012.
Ashley Giles has been appointed as a part of the overhaul at Edgbaston with several administration officials being replaced. Giles’ contract with the Lancashire was due to run till 2018 but the county supported Giles citing his personal reasons and contributions towards cricket at Lancashire.
Deandra Dottin taken to hospital after a freak injury
Brisbane Heat's West Indian all-rounder Deandra Dottin was rushed to the hospital after suffering a concussion during the women's BBL game against Melbourne Stars. She collided with her Brisbane Heat teammate Laura Harris at the deep mid-wicket boundary during the match and was immediately taken off the field.
The incident happened in the 11th over when Stars' Meg Lanning smashed a Haidee Birkett delivery towards mid-wicket where Harris and Dottincontrolling the fence, collided with each other while trying to stop the ball from going into the boundary.
Dottin landed badly on the kit-bag lying on the sidelines while Harris looked normal after the incident. Initially, it appeared that Dottin might have hurt her shoulder but later, was taken to the hospital to guard against further aggravation.
