MS Dhoni could be present for Jharkhand's Ranji Trophy Semi-Final

India's ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni would be present with the Jharkhand team for their all-important semi-final fixture against Gujarat.

Dhoni, who has been credited for the meteoric rise if his home state is also the unofficial mentor of his state side and has been a regular fixture behind the scenes for the team.

"He should be there in Nagpur in all probability. He wants to be there. Interactions with him has always been helpful for the boys," a source close to the team management told PTI.

Dhoni has also trained with this state side, and would love to hit the nets before the England ODI series. However, the Jharkhand management also said that the iconic player would not be available for the entire duration of the match, as he would attend the meeting to pick up the squad for the limited overs fixture.

Jharkhand will play their first semi-finals in their Ranji Trophy fixture when they take on Gujarat in Nagpur on Sunday, January 1.

Misbah-ul-Haq fined for slow over rate in Boxing Day loss to Australia

After suffering an embarrassing defeat in the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the day has only worsened for Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who has now been fined 40 per cent of his match fee for his side having a slow over rate in the Test match.

Pakistan collapsed in a dramatic fashion on the final day and handed Australia an unlikely victory by an innings and 18 runs on the fifth day. To add insult to injury, match referee Ranjan Madugale hauled the skipper and slapped the penalty after he found the tourists to be short by 2 overs.

Apart from Misbah, the entire team has also been docked 20 per cent of their match fees.

Pakistan surrendered the match after a spectacular meltdown in the batting and are now staring at a deep hole as they trail the 3-match series 2-0.

A visibly irate and hurt Misbah said that he was contemplating over his future after such a bleak performance, and also conceded that his own game is in shambles at the moment.
