India U-19 vs England U-19 ends in a tie

Despite having already won the series, the India U-19 almost saw England force out a win off the fifth encounter, but the outcome of the game turned out to be a tie.India Under 19 won the toss and elected to field. Their bowlers struck at regular intervals and managed to restrict England to a meagre 226 for 9. Only two English batsmen managed to cross the 30-run mark. George Bartlett chipped in with 47 runs while wicketkeeper Ollie Pope hung around with some of the lower order batsmen to make 45 off 65 balls.In reply, the Indians were reduced to 54 for 4 courtesy of England’s Jack Blatherwick and Arthur Godsal. Then the debutant S.Radhakrishnan steadied the Indian boat with a watchful 93-ball 65 runs. Once he departed, spinner Ayush Jamwal and Yash Thakur put on 65 runs for the seventh wicket to bring India closer to the target. Jamwal scored a 38-ball 40 which included 4 fours and a six. Thakur departed in the penultimate over England U19 were just one wicket away. India needed just one run off the last ball but Ishan Porel got out off the last ball.India won the series 3-1 and Shubham Gill was the top scorer with 351 runs and Henry Brookes was the highest wicket-taker with 9 wickets.The teams will now face each other in 2 unofficial Test matches beginning on 13th of February.
