Disappointing news for Indian fans after the Men's Shot Put Qualification Round Group A. Tajinderpal Singh Toor, the Asian Games 2018 gold medalist, failed to qualify for the Final Round. His first throw covered a distance of 19.99m, but his next two attempts were considered invalid.

Andrei Rares Toader's final throw covers a distance of 19.41m. Tajinderpal Singh Toor ends Group A in the 13th place. Irrespective of what happens in Group B now, Tajinderpal is out of contention for a place in the medal round.

An invalid throw from Italian Nick Ponzio as he commits a foul. Only his second attempt was a valid throw and the distance of 20.28 meters in his second attempt will be considered his best.

USA's Payton Otterdahl lands a throw of 20.90 meters, his best in all three attempts.

Egypt's Amr Mostafa Hassan QUALIFIES! His third throw covers a distance of 21.23m. It is the Egyptian's season's best throw!

Total 12 athletes will qualify for the final from Group A and B. Tajinderpal Singh Toor currently stands 13th in Group A, meaning there is no chance he can qualify for the medal round.

Canadian thrower Tim Nedow betters his second attempt and finishes with a best of 19.42 meters, a distance which he achieved in his third attempt.

Portugal's Belo Francisco covers a distance of 20.24m in his final throw. His best throw was his second attempt (20.58m)

UPDATE: New Zealand's Tomas Walsh's second attempt has been considered a valid one after the thrower's appeal. He has moved to 7th rank with a throw of 20.38m. Tajinderpal Singh Toor is officially out of the Men's Shot Put Medal Round.

South African thrower Jason van Rooyen is up next and and moves up to the eighth position with a throw of 20.29 meters.

Chances seem pretty bleak for the Indian thrower, Tajinderpal Singh Toor here as he is all but out of the reckoning for qualifying for the medal event.

Bahrain's Mahmoud Abdelrahman gears up for his final attempt. His throw covers a distance of 19.93m. His best throw was his second attempt (20.14m)

Georgia's Giorgi Mujaridze cannot better this performance as he lands a 19.55 meters throw in his third attempt. His second attempt of 19.76 meters being his best.

Total 12 out of 32 athletes will qualify from two groups. The Group A qualification is underway at the moment. In case less than 12 athletes fail to qualify directly, the top 12 throwers with the most distance covered will qualify.

Just to remind the fans, the shot putters need to cover a distance of 21.20m in any of their three attempts to book themselves a spot in the medal round.
