Sindhu's title defence came to an end when she lost 11-21, 10-21 to Chinese teenager, Gao Fangjie.

I think Sindhu was under pressure of being World No 2 and the defending champion. She hasn't performed well at No 2. Neither after IndiaSS nor after Korea.

Looks like Gopichand has shifted training focus from Sindhu to Naina https://t.co/G9pEOOWWvG

@Pvsindhu1 I am shocked Sindhu loosing in straight games to the qualifier.😟. Sindhu gear up. Yo got to finish Hong Kong and Dubai destination 👍. Patriotism of china in d super series is very crystal clear with their players.

@Pvsindhu1 Never mind the loss against Gao.. It looked that you were very tired coming in the match..Gao played extremely well and made very few errors.. I think you were playing a bit back and her cross court drops (near the net) were very accurate and made it difficult for you

May be she will loose good ranking points in Hongkong, but I want sindhu to skip it and come to dubai rejuvenated........I don't like seeing sindhu play like this..........

Sindhu looks lost and I think she needs real good class from someone, for me her game is looking monotonous & she is not showing the drive, for Saina her physical abilities are stopping her & you can see the real drive, but sindhu looks really lost, feeling really bad..........

Can't quite come to terms with what just happened. Sure, the opponent played well, but Sindhu was making errors left, right and center. #ChinaSSP

Just energy I think. Even the one two winners she hit, there was not much of a reaction.

Somebody has to explain this! What just went wrong there for Sindhu?

Sindhu reminds me of Rafa at the end of the season in general. Basically nothing left after playing a peak season.

Straight and simple. Gao has a lot of deception and playing against her for the first time is not going to be easy. Plus everything she was doing worked today

Sindhu looks absolutely burned out since Korea. Against Gao today, there was not a single moment of positive body language. Even the few chances she got, she hit only tired shots into the net. Was a repetition of what she did against Yamaguchi at the French. Badly needs a break.
