WWE NXT Live Results (May 14, 2024): Huge title change and a big return in the main event!

SOL RUCA defeats Izzi Dame by pin.
OTM defeats Edris Enofe and Malik Blade by pin.
LASH LEGEND defeats Ivy Nile by pin.
JE'VON EVANS defeats Oro Mensah by pin.
THE OC defeats Ridge Holland and Riley Osborne by pin.
LOLA VICE defeats Carlee Bright by pin.
Tony D'Angelo defeats Charlie Dempsey 2 Falls to 1 Fall to win the NXT Heritage Cup.

As The D'Angelo Family celebrates in the ring, Vic gets word that something is going down backstage. We follow the camera to see Wes Lee, Ivar, and Josh Briggs all laid out and some guys yelling. It's the most interesting group in the world, Gallus, who is back in NXT. They say this is just the beginning.

The Don hits a German Suplex on Dempsey as Damon Kemp and Myles Borne run out looking like they have been living in a dumpster for a week. Dempsey almost rolls D'Angelo up with a bridging pin attempt. D'Angelo counters and hits his Fisherman's Buster for the win!
Result - Tony D'Angelo defeats Charlie Dempsey by pin, 2 Falls to 1 Fall.

Dempsey continues to work on Tony D's arm, stomping it like he's Shayna Baszler. He counters into another armlock before switching to another Triangle choke attempt. The Don powers out by slamming Dempsey to the mat. Dempsey slaps The Don, seemingly waking him up. D'Angelo hits a few suplexes before hitting a Spinebuster.

Tony D whiffs on a shoulder block to the stomach, instead hitting the ring post. Dempsey hits a German Suplex with a bridge to pick up a fall.

Dempsey works on Tony D's arm in Round 3. He quickly goes for another armbar but he counters into a Triangle Choke. D'Angelo picks Dempsey up but he counter into a Fujiwara Armbar. The competitors trade a few pinning combos.

Dempsey and D'Angelo trade uppercuts and knees in Round 2. Dempsey hits a Butterfly Suplex with a counter into an armbar as Round 2 expires.

D'Angelo and Dempsey trade match counters in the first round. After more counters and catch wrestling, D'Angelo wins the first fall with a roll up.

Announced for next week are:
Fallon Henley vs. Thea Hail - Qualifying match for Battleground
Brinley Reece vs. Jaida Parker - Qualifying match for Battleground
Wes Lee vs. Josh Briggs vs. Ivar - Winner faces Oba Femi at Battleground
Natalya/Karmen Petrovic vs. Lola Vice/Shayna Baszler

This would be an interesting group for Ivar's fishing trip.

Vice is going to inflict more damage on Bright after the match, but Baszler looks like she's not happy with it. Nattie and Karmen come out to save her and challenge them to a tag team match for next week. Backstage, Chase U and Ridge Holland make amends for the in-ring miscommunication from their match.

Bright eats a kick in the gut and a spinning back fist in the face as Vice wins.

Result - Lola Vice defeats Carlee Bright by pin.

Vice hits an axe kick to Bright's back as Nattie and Karmen watch from a backstage monitor. Bright gets a counter into a backslide for a two-count. She lands a few knees to Bright's gut. As has been the case tonight, Vice stands with her back turned to a prone Bright to shake her butt. Bright almost rolls her up for the win. She hits a standing Moonsault for two.

Carlee Bright takes on Lola Vice next. She gets a few quick roll up attempts off the bat.

The OC isolates Riley in their corner. Anderson sends him into the buckle numerous times. Osborne battles back with a somersault cannonball to both members of the OC. He tags Holland in, and he runs through Anderson in the ring. He suplexes Anderson before landing a SnowPlow. Gallows breaks up the pin but gets deked for his efforts. Holland goes for an Alabama Slam, but Osborne hits a springboard kick on him instead of Gallows, allowing Anderson to roll Ridge up.

Result - The OC defeats Riley Osborne and Ridge Holland by pin.

Ridge starts off with Gallows. Ridge hits a jumping shoulder block before Riley tags in. He outquicks Anderson before kicking Gallows off the apron. He hits a standing Shooting Star Press for a near fall. As Osborne reaches for a tag, Anderson hits a Spinebuster for two.

We get another sleeping promo with someone snoring. It's clearly for Wendy Choo. Lexis King is backstage hyping himself up to a few random stars. Jazmyn Nyx walks up with a card for Jacy Jayne, but no one wants to sign it for obvious reasons. King signs it 'Get Well Soon, Jackie."

Before his match with the OC, Chase U comes over to wish Ridge Holland luck and to provide him with a partner. He thinks it's Andre Chase but Chase suggests Riley Osborne since they were at odds last week. Thea Hail relays that it's a teachable moment.

Lee says that if Oba is the ruler he says he is, he should make it a Fatal Fourway. Femi leaves the ring and tells them to fight amongst themselves and the winner will get the title shot.

Ivar says he and Wes had the same spinal surgeon but that he had to fight for everything he got. The promo parade continues with Josh Briggs. The crowd loudly boos Briggs. He says that 'this is a man's game' before claiming that he and Oba tore the house down at Stand & Deliver (forgetting that Dijak was there too).

Lee is interrupted by current North American Champion Oba Femi. He says he respects how Lee battled back to the ring and how he put the title on the map. Femi thinks he can take it further because he is an actual warrior and a mountain that Lee cannot conquer. Oba tells Lee to prove that he deserves a title shot. Lee says that Femi checks all the boxes of what a champ should look like. Before he can say more, 'Just returned from a fishing boat,' Ivar comes out.

Up next is Wes Lee talking to the NXT Universe for the first time in a few months. He says he missed this so much that he was up on his feet two days after his back surgery.

Trick gets in the ring to prop up Evans after the win. Meta Four is upset outside the ring. Charlie Dempsey says he's been in contact with Myles and Damon after being abducted last week. He also says he's never cried a day in his life and instead will fight.

Both stars get back in the ring but Oro clotheslines Evans. Jackson distracts the ref so Lash can get a chair from under the ring. Trick comes out to distract Lash and she drops the chair. Oro hits a clothesline to the back of Evans' head. Mensah goes for a powerbomb but Evans counters out. The two trade kicks until Evans lands a corkscrew splash for the win.

Evans tries to fight back but Oro decks him in the face. He hits a reverse powerbomb throw for a near fall. Evans drops Mensah with a punch. He climbs to the top but Mensah meets him. Evans kicks him off the buckle before landing a springboard clothesline. The two trade chops and strikes in the middle of the ring. Mensah hits a back elbow but Evans responds with a springboard cutter. Mensah rolls out of the ring. Evans follows with a flying splash.

Evans falls hard on the outside as the show heads off to a commercial break.

Oro Mensah takes Dar's place against Evans. Jackson accompanies Oro and Lash makes it out shortly after the bell rings. Evans hits a dropkick early on. Mensah lands a springboard moonsault for a near fall. Evans evades Oro's chase until he hits a Hurrivanrana and a kick for a near fall.

Newcomer Carlee Bright approaches Ava outside her office to ask for a shot at Lola Vice. After some convincing, she agrees.

Sarah Schreiber asks Je'Von Evans if he attacked Noam Dar as he heads out for his match.

Lash fights back by overpowering Ivy. She climbs up to the middle rope but Ivy counters out. They sit on the top buckle doing nothing for like 10 seconds before Nile hits a Bulldog off the top for a near fall. Ivy goes for headscissors again but Lash counters out of it. Nile locks in her submission but she works over to the ropes. Jackson grabs her leg. Lash hits a throw and a big boot for the win.
Result - Lash Legend defeats Ivy Nile by pin.

She then bashes Nile's elbow against the ring apron before bodyslamming her on the mat. Jakara Jackson gets in Lash's way for some reason and Lash hits the steel steps after Jackson's distraction. Ivy hits a kick and headscissors before hitting her running kick in the corner.

Lash rushes Ivy off the bell. She sends Nile into the middle buckle elbow-first.

Backstage, Nathan Frazer and Axiom are talking with Ridge Holland. They're being friendly with each other as he gives props to Chase University. He says they have a lot in common. The OC then walks in to rile Holland up. I like the whole 'tired of main-roster stars coming to NXT' schtick they have. They challenge Ridge to find a partner for a tag match tonight.

Dar is in the trainer's room complaining about his attack. He thinks Trick or Je'Von Evans attacked him, but Lash doesn't think Trick attacked him. She faces Ivy Nile—who is randomly back after being on RAW for the last few months—in a qualifying match.

Enofe makes the tag to Blade. He hits a Blockbuster and a crossbody on both members of OTM. He then tags Enofe back in for some reason, but he's trying to fix his boot. Enofe hoists Price on his shoulders, but he gets booted. Everyone lands outside, but Enofe must stop to address his boot. OTM hits their finisher for the win.

The ladies fight again on the ringside as the match continues. A bunch of refs come out to break them up. OTM lands a tandem move for a near fall. Enofe's boot comes undone while he's fighting Lucien Price. Price drops him with a Uranage before wasting more time and landing more offense. Price then locks in a chinlock submission variant.

As Enfore goes against the ropes, Parker grabs his leg. Brinley Reece jumps on her and the two women have to be pulled apart mid match.

Edris has some confidence but the tides turn when he wastes time after landing an elbow. Nima does the same after stomping Enofe into the mat. OTM goes for a suplex but Blade saves his partner. The faces land a few shots in opposite corners before hitting stereo Hurricanranas and superkicks. They do the same with Tope Con Giros to the outside.

Before the next match, Lola Vice and Shayna Baszler talk about last week's matches. Shayna is interested in who Ava names as Roxanne Perez's next challenger. They both seem interested until Nattie and Karmen Petrovic attack them. You know who is winning this tag team match since Edris and Malik don't even get an entrance.

Other qualifying matches were Fallon Henley vs. Thea Hail, Jaida Parker vs. Brinley Reece, and Michin vs. Tatum Paxley.

Edris Enofe is backstage worried about the match with OTM. He has a rabbit's foot but Brinley Reece tosses it away because he's good enough without it. He isn't convinced.

Backstage, Ava is admonishing The D'Angelo Family for skirting the rules last week and for 'abducting' Myles Borne and Damon Kemp. She's going to fine The Don for his actions instead of taking away his Heritage Cup match tonight. After handing Ava a packet with cash, he promises there won't be any funny business tonight.

After getting slammed into the corner, Dame falls victim to the Sol Snatcher.
