AJ Styles and The Miz (replacing James Ellsworth) vs Cena and Dean Ambrose

AJ Styles makes his way to the ring first followed by James Ellsworth who gets savagely attacked by The Miz on the ramp. The Miz forces Ellsworth to look into the camera while he sends a message to Daniel Bryan. He then delivers a Skull Crushing Finale on the ramp before throwing James Ellsworth aside and making his way to the ring.

It looks like this one will be AJ Styles and The Miz vs John Cena and Dean Ambrose.

The Miz and John Cena kick us off and The Miz looks like he's on fire. We haven't seen this vicious side of Miz often as The Miz delivers a devastating DDT on John Cena. John Cena is sent reeling to the corner and AJ Styles delivers and enzeguiri from the apron.

Miz misses a trademark jumping corner which allows Cena to tag Ambrose in. Ambrose is all over Styles and delivers a swinging backbreaker and a top rope elbow drop for the 2 count.

Ambrose goes for a clothesline but Styles ducks and delivers a Pelle Kick as we head into a commercial break.

Ambrose and Miz are going at it as we come back from the commercial break. Miz delivers a double axehandle from the top rope as the frustration is clear on Cena's face. Miz tags Styles in who delivers a cheap shot to Cena immediately.

Miz chokes Ambrose in the corner as the referee is distracted by an irate Cena. Ambrose tries to go for a comeback with a few chops in the corner but Styles kicks him away.

Styles goes for his patented strike combo but Ambrose counters with a swinging neckbreaker and tags Cena in as Styles tags the Miz. Cena delivers a Five Knuckle Shuffle to the Miz followed by Ambrose taking out Styles with a tope suicida.

Cena delivers an Attitude Adjustment to The Miz and covers him....1-2-3!

John Cena and Dean Ambrose def. AJ Styles and The Miz

As John Cena celebrates, Dean Ambrose kicks him in the gut and delivers a Dirty Deeds to the 15-time world champion, sending a message ahead of No Mercy.

Randy Orton is out next. He's greeted by "Randy" chants as he paces around inside the ring addressing Bray Wyatt, He says that Bray is called the New Face of Fear because Bray's afraid of him, which is why Bray tried to 'end his career' at Backlash.

He asks Bray to come to the ring and face his fear if he had the guts.

Bray appears on the titantron and whispers stuff and rambles like usual. He says that he got embarrassed at Backlash and nothing would stop him now. He warns Randy to not fall asleep as the video fades out and we see Bray appear at ringside.

The lights go out and Eric Rowan ambushes Randy Orton from behind after appearing in the ring after the lights came on. Rowan is as useless as ever as Randy Orton RKO's him and takes him out.

...
...

AJ Styles is backstage and hasn't found a partner yet so Daniel Bryan reveals that he's appointed one for him and that partner is.........James Ellsworth. The man who rose to fame after getting pummeled by Braun Strowman on Raw last month.

Heath Slater and Rhyno (C) vs The Ascension (for the SmackDown Tag-Team Championships)

Heath Slater and Konnor kick us off as The Ascension duo work on Slater. The Ascension botch a double team seconds into the match as the crowd audibly groans.

Konnor holds Slater's foot but Slater manages to break free as Rhyno gets tagged in. Rhyno looks on form as he sends Konnor crashing into the ring post before delivering a spine buster. Rhyno is a one man wrecking machine as he delivers the Gore to Konnor for the pinfall. As easy as ABC for the champs.

Heath Slater's contract signing

Who would have thought during the WWE Draft that Heath Slater would be in a contract signing segment a little more than a month later. Slater and Rhyno come out to a massive pop and the usual ECW chants follow Rhyno as Shane congratulates the two of them.

Shane presents Slater his contract and asks him to make it official. Slater raises the contract before signing it and the crowd goes nuts for a few seconds.

Slater thanks his kayfabe wife Beula and his partner Rhyno for helping him earn his contract. He calls Rhyno a friend, a partner and fellow SmackDown Tag-Team Champion. The One Man Band also thanks all his kids ill he gets interrupted by The Ascension of all people who challenge Rhyno and Slater to a match.

Shane agrees and it looks like the SmackDown tag-Team Championships will be defended next!

Nikki Bella vs Naomi vs Natalya vs Alexa Bliss vs Carmella (for the #1 contendership to the SmackDown Women's Championship)

If Backlash's Six Pack match was anything to go by then this one should be great.

Nikki Bella spears Carmella as soon as this match begins before Natalya takes her out. Natalya's on top and delivers snap suplexes to Nikki Bella and Alexa Bliss before bodyslamming Naomi.

Niki and Naomi go at it now as Naomi catches Nikki with a spinning kick before she puts Nikki in the head scissors in the corner before Nikki delivers the electric chair drop.

Both women are down as Alexa Bliss covers both but only gets two counts. Naomi delivers an enzeguiri to Alexa Bliss following which Nikka give Naomi a Bella Buster.

Natalya drags Naomi out and sends her crashing into the steel steps after which Nikki drives Naomi into the divider. Alexa pulls Nikki into the ring and tries to go for the Sparkle Splash but Nikki gets up and gets Alexa in place for the TKO.

As Nikki's about to deliver the TKO, Carmella superkicks her. Alexa drags Carmella and throws her out of the ring and goes for the cover on Nikki Bella. 1 - 2 - 3!!

Alexa Bliss is the new #1 contender for the SmackDown Women's Championship

...

Becky Lynch's championship celebration is up next as she comes out to address the crowd and to be interviewed by Charli Caruso.

Before the interview can begin, the "You deserve it" chants begin. Becky says that it's fitting that the first place Becky Balboa showed up as champion is Philly. She says that she doesn't care who's the #1 contender and she'll take on all challengers.

...

Apollo Crews vs Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin destroys Apollo Crews even before the match begins which leads to referees coming out and calling the match off.

As Corbin stands in the ring smiling, Jack Swagger's music hit. Corbin rolls out of the ring and walks away as Swagger enters the ring. Swagger announces that he's now on the SmackDown Live now before saying that the crowd hadn't seen everything he could do in the ring yet.

...

The Miz and Maryse make their way out. He says that the WWE Universe has called him a coward for weeks but he managed to leave Backlash still the Intercontinental Champion. He says that he's a bonafide main eventer and he's increased the prestige of the IC championship exponentially.

Dolph Ziggler's music hits. Dolph comes out and tells The Miz that he's holding the belt but he's not a true champion. Ziggler says that Miz might think he's the  main event but the WWE Universe sees through him.

Miz replies that if he lived and died by the respect of the WWE Universe then he'd be dead and six feet under already much like Dolph's career.

Ziggler angles for a rematch but Maryse intervenes to ask Dolph if he's serious. Dolph tells the crowd to shut up while his wife speaks which led to Daniel Bryan's music hitting.

He tells The Miz that he can't shut up while Maryse was talking because Miz wouldn't be champion any longer had it not been for Maryse. Miz replies that he won't defend his championship till he gets his contract renegotiated and he's calling his own shots now.

Miz and Maryse leave the ring and walk away through the crowd as Bryan enters the ring. This storyline is electric.

...

Curt Hawkins introduces himself in a vignette and from the looks of it, his run will be a failure. Face the facts indeed.

The Usos vs The Hype Bros

The Backlash rematch between The Hype Bros and The Usos is up next. Jey Uso and Zack Ryder start up off and The Usos get the upper hand immediately. The new look is really working for The Usos, they're so much more interesting as heels.

Zack Ryder tags in Mojo Rawley who tackles the hell out of Jey Uso before giving corner splashes to both Usos. Jey Usos rolls out and takes out Zack Ryder as Jimmy Uso superkicks Mojo Rawley. Jey Uso follows up with a Frog Splash for the pinfall. This one got over quick.

AJ Styles addresses the WWE Universe

The new WWE World Champion kicks off the show and that championship belt looks so good around his waist. Announced once again as 'The face that runs the place', Styles comes out and addresses the crowd.

Styles tells the crowd that he's done everything he's said he'll do - he's beaten John Cena, he beat John Cena and now he's the WWE World Champion. He tells the crowd that they should do exactly what he says because the world of AJ Styles is gospel.

JOHN CENA'S MUSIC HITS! CENA IS BACK!

Both men stand in the ring as the crowd goes nuts around them.

Cena is back and it looks like he doesn't care about his armband and wants the championship instead. Cena quotes Flair and says "To be the man, you got to beat the man" and he can't think of a better person to win the 16th championship from than AJ Styles.

Dean Ambrose's music hits! The Lunatic Fringe has arrived.

Ambrose calls AJ Styles a boy and tells him that the low-blow at Backlash was the biggest mistake of Syles' life. He says that he'll bury Styles and take back what's his.

Cena cuts him off. He says that Ambrose has no right to complain after the low-blow and he says that Stone Cold was right about Ambrose in his podcast and he has no desire.

Ambrose hits back and Cena and calls him a corporate puppet and a lazy part-timer. He follows this up by saying that Cena's just a Hollywood wannabe and the WWE head office uses him for their corporate needs but Cena can't cut it in the ring anymore.

Shane O' Mac comes out!

Shane says he appreciated AJ and Cena's epic match at SummerSlam but he was tired of Styles' incessant bragging. He also says that the match at Backlash was stellar but AJ's low-blow was the easy way out.

Shane announced a huge title match for No Mercy - AJ Styles vs Dean Ambrose vs John Cena.

Shane also announces a tag-team match for later in the night - Dean Ambrose and John Cena vs AJ Styles and a partner of his choosing.
