Ladies and gentlemen! Dean Ambrose is your new Intercontinental Champion! What a way to kickstart 2017!
...
Maryse slaps Ambrose near ringside and referee sees it as a DQ. Ambrose holds his hand and stops him from ending the match. He tells the ref to send her backstage and the ref obliges. Thank god!

Miz looked to cash in on the confusion by hitting Ambrose with the IC title. Pinfall. 1-2! Kickout! Holy Sh**! Ambrose kicked out yet again! Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finale, but Ambrose reverses into the Dirty Deeds. Pinfall! 1-2-3!

And we have a new champion!
...
He recuperates and takes Miz down with the Lunatic Lariat! It's time for Air Ambrose to take off and it does with style. Ambrose takes Miz down with the Topa Suicida.
...
Dean Ambrose perched up on the top rope and Maryse interferes again as she tries to push him off.  Ambrose jumps off the top rope, but gets caught in the Skull Crushing Finale. Pinfall. 1-2! Nearfall! Ambrose kicks out at 2 and a half!
...
We're back from the break and Miz is seen rampaging towards Ambrose in the corner, who sends him straight out to the mat. The Lunatic Fringe goes up to the top turnbuckle and floors Miz with the flying elbow to the outside. Back in the ring, Ambrose stuns Miz with his trademark lariat. He looks to capitalize the momentum, but Miz stops him in his tracks by reversing the Bulldog into a Figure Four Leg Lock. He hyperextends his leg and looks to transition into the leg lock, but Ambrose fights out of it but sees himself caught in the Skull Crushing Finale position.

Ambrose somehow reverses it into a swinging neck breaker. Pinfall, 1-2! Kickout!
...
...
The action spills to the outside as Ambrose sends Miz crashing over the announce table. Maryse does what she does best: distract! The champion took advantage and executed a wrecking ball dropkick to take control of the match as we go into a commercial break.

Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz (WWE Intercontinental Championship match)

The match kicks off after the customary in-ring introductions and Ambrose comes out hot right out of the gate. He lights up Miz like a Christmas tree in the corner with some nasty chops.

WWE announed the following three matches for next week's show:

Natalya vs. Nikki Bella

American Alpha vs. The Wyatt Family (WWE Tag Team Championship match)

Nikki Bella confronts Natalya

It's time for the only blot on an otherwise spotless show thus far. Nikki Bella begins her promo by telling Natalya that she doesn't despise her. She says that it's not about her looks and who she goes out with, but about what she does in between the ropes.

Bella gets a cheap pop by name dropping Bret Hart and says that Natalya is the most incompetent product of the Hart Dungeon. Natalya too uses Bret Hart for some cheap heat as she claims that she is way better than Hart would ever be.

She takes a wild jibe at Nikki by telling her that Cena would leave her one day and that she would die alone. Bella snaps and lays out Natalya out by striking her with the mic. And it's over, thankfully!

SmackDown goes into a commercial break and Nikki Bella confronts Natalya on the other side. Meh!

...
The lights predictably go off and the Wyatt Family is seen on the Titantron. Bray Wyatt talks about how American Alpha took away the possession that was the light of their family. He ends the promo by telling them that their short reign is all set to end as they're coming to reclaim the straps. And yes, The Viper says run!
...
Chad Gable and Tyler Breeze kick things off and he suplexes him right out of the gate. He tags Jordon in, who comes and spears both Fandango and Breeze. They execute the Grand Amplitude. Pinfall. 1-2-3!

American Alpha def. Breezango via pinfall in a squash match

Breezango vs. WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions American Alpha

The new tag team champions are in action next against the fashion police of the WWE.

Carmella (w) James Ellsworth vs. Aliyah

Good to see NXT Superstar Aliyah on SmackDown Live. Carmella works on Aliyah in the early goings as she stuns the NXT debutant with a bronco buster in the corner. Ellsworth seems as supportive as they come as he claps on from ringside. We agree with the commentators, what does Carmella see in him. Chinless charm?

Aliyah takes momentary control of the match with a northern lights suplex. Aliyah goes up to the top rope, but Ellsworth grabs her feet while the referee wasn't looking. Carmella superkicks Aliyah and forced Aliyah tap to the Code of Silence.

Cena claims he's looking for a fight and he wants it against Corbin as the Punk a** Styles wouldn't want one. Styles lost it and lays Cena out to end the pic segment.
