AJ Styles vs James Ellsworth (for the WWE World Championship)

It's a great day to be James Ellsworth. He comes out to challenge for the WWE World Championship in his own t-shirt with new entrance music and graphics with the crowd chanting 'Ellsworth'.

Ambrose does a pretty decent job as the ring announcer as we begin. This one looks set to be awesome.

Ellsworth takes advantage of Ambrose distracting Styles and immediately goes for the offence by Styles counters with an arm lock as Ambrose (guest time keeper) announces we need to go for commercial.

As we head back from commercial, we see Dean Ambrose promoting the new Ellsworth t-shirt on the titantron much to Styles' chagrin. Styles does not look happy to have Ambrose at ringside.

Styles delivers a brutal snap suplex into a corner and calls Ambrose out - saying that the beating Ellsworth's taking is because of Ambrose's insolence.

Ambrose has Ellsworth up for a superplex but Ambrose distracts him once again with what sounds like a public service announcement. Styles throws Ellsworth out of the ring near Ambrose's  feet but Ambrose throws him back in. Styles throws him out again. Ambrose throws him back in.

Ambrose has Styles distracted again and James Ellsworth hits AJ Styles with a massive Superkick as the crowd erupts. He goes for the nearfall and Styles kicks out at 2. Ellsworth goes in for the kill but Styles delivers a smashing spinebuster followed by repeated forearms. Ambrose goading Styles from the outside doesn't help Ellsworth at all as Styles just hits him harder which leads to the referee disqualifying Styles.

Ambrose gets in the ring and delivers a Dirty Deeds to Styles as the crowd continues chanting "Ellsworth".

Jack Swagger vs Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin smashes Jack Swagger's head against the barricade and looks to end this one quickly. Irish whip into the End of Days!

1-2-3! This one barely lasted a minute.

The Miz and the Spirit Squad vs Dolph Ziggler, Rhyno and Heath Slater

The Miz and the spirit squad come out first followed by the team of champions. Dolph looks like he clearly isn't used to having a belt around his waist as he screws up his entrance a little bit and has to sort of restart his trademark belt spin halfway through.

Rhyno and Mikey start us off and the manbeast looks in form today. Mikey has to tag in Kenny who immediately gets a belly-to-belly suplex for his troubles. Rhyno tags in Slater who works on Kenny for a bit before tagging Dolph Ziggler in.

Dolph's new attire looks spectacular as Kenny tags in The Miz who whips Ziggler into the corner and looks to isolate him as we head into the break.

The Miz takes control after Maryse distracts Ziggler. Miz tags Kenny back in as the crowd chants "We want Slater". Mikey gets tagged back in and Ziggler counters a vertical suplex looking for a tag. The Miz gets tagged back in just in time and he stops Ziggler who delivers a Superkick.

Ziggler finally makes the tag as Heath Slater cleans house. Rhyno delivers a devastating 'gore' to Mikey. Slater rolls up Kenny but he gets a cheap shot by The Miz as Kenny rolls him up! 1-2-3!!

Can Carmella brighten up an extremely dull episode of SmackDown? She's out next.

Carmella reveals that she feels that Nikki Bella stole the thunder of her PPV debut at SummerSlam. Nikki's music hits before Carmella can say anything else. Nikki tells Carmella to tell her what she has to say to her face.

Carmella says she won't walk on eggshells around Nikki Bella like everyone herself. She says that Nikki could do whatever she wants to because John Cena is her boyfriend and Carmella accused Nikki of riding his coattails.

Nikki Bella says that Carmella is a blemish to women everywhere for saying that Nikki's defined by Cena. Carmella retorts by calling Nikki a golddigger.

Nikki Bella says that her career almost ended due to a neck injury but she isn't afraid of anything or anyone - not a boss, not a queen and definitely not a princess from Staten Island.

Carmella retorts by saying that Nikki Bella used her looks to get into the WWE, her sister to get into the ring and John Cena to become a celebrity before walking off.

Excellent segment.

Curt Hawkins vs Apollo Crews

Curt Hawkins' gimmick is extremely annoying, to say the least. Hawkins comes out and says that all Apollo Crews has to fear is fear itself and Curt Hawkins.

Apollo Crews punches Hawkins in the face and Hawkins just leaves. What was that? Terrible booking.

Naomi vs Alexa Bliss

#1 contender Alexa Bliss has a rematch with Naomi tonight. Cagey start from Alexa who looks to avoid Naomi than to go toe to toe with her. Naomi takes advantage and lights Alexa with her trademark kicks before hitting her with a springboard crossbody followed by a running clothesline for a nearfall as we head into another commercial break.

Bliss is in control as we head back from the break. She goes for a snapmare roll and converts it into some sort of a submission move. Naomi powers out of it and hits Alexa with a backbreaker followed by a lariat and a sitout jawbreaker. Will that be enough as Naomi goes for the pin? Nearfall.

High risk from Naomi as she goes to the top rope but Alexa meets her and trips her. Alexa to the top rope now. Twisted Bliss from Alexa! That was a thing of beauty. 1 - 2 -3!

Randy Orton vs Luke Harper

This one kicks off with a flurry from Orton, looking to take his revenge. As Orton went for a Superplex the lights go out just a few seconds in. Wyatt appears and is carried out to ringside in a casket as we head into the break.

Orton is on the floor outside the ring as we come back from commercial. Randy just avoids the 10 count and gets back into the ring as Luke Harper delivers a Michinoku Driver. Harper tries to get Orton into the casket but Orton counters and powerslams Harper.

Wyatt interferes!

Randy Orton wins by DQ

Wyatt and Harper beat down Orton and Wyatt goes to open the coffin to put Orton inside. However, the demon Kane is inside the casket! He attacks Wyatt and the lights go out. When it comes back on, Wyatt and Harper are gone.

05:38 (IST)19 OCT 2016

SmackDown starts off tonight with 'The Viper' Randy Orton. Orton starts his promo by saying Bray Wyatt is more evil than anything he's experienced before, comparing it to quicksand. He warns Bray that he's coming.

Wyatt and Harper appear on the titantron with Wyatt appearing to cut his promo from inside a coffin. Wyatt sends Harper out to face Orton.

James Ellsworth comments on facing AJ Styles on tonight's SmackDown Live:
James Ellsworth recently had a conversation with CBS Boston and had this to say:

“I would have just laughed at him. Like, yeah right! That’s a joke! I would have never thought in a million years that I would ever be wrestling for the WWE World Championship. I’m glad it happened now and not five or 10 years ago. I’m in a better place now than I was five or 10 years ago with my career. If this were to have happened five or seven years into my career, I don’t think I would have been as prepared for it. Obviously, I am nervous. You’re wrestling, in my opinion, the best wrestler in the world in AJ Styles for the biggest championship in the world, the WWE World Championship. Yeah, the nerves are there. I’m trying to stay as calm and collected as I can right now at this time, but tomorrow I’m sure I’ll be very nervous.”

What to expect from tonight's show?
- Could James Ellsworth become the next WWE World Champion?
- What will be the fallout if Naomi beats Alexa Bliss again?
- The Lone Wolf sets his sights on The Real American
- Can Orton repel the power of The Wyatt Family?
- Who will set themselves apart in SmackDown’s Tag Team division?
